Amanda SHOULDERS CAGE, last appeared in her
father-in-law's home with her husband William Cage in the 1880
senses of Jackson Co. We think she may have had 2 or 3 children
and died young in either Jackson, Smith, Tipton, or Macon Co. TN.
We think she could have been buried as a Cage between 1890 and
1900. Possible children are John O. b 1887, Thomas, b 1892 and
Jessy, b 1894. Anything on her grave, death, children, her
husband's remarriage, or anything which will help us bring a
closure to this perplexing problem. What ever happened to Amanda
Shoulders Cage, Daughter of Samuel and Mary Sutton Shoulders of
Macon and Jackson Co. TN? She simply disappeared. Please help.

I am trying to find the connection between James W.
HANCOCK and my Ggreatgrandmother, Mary Ann LUCK GRIFFITH. She
married John C. Griffith about 1827. They are in the Jackson
County census of 1830. A Power of Attorney, concerning the sale of
property left her by George LUCK, mentions a James W. HANCOCK.

I am searching for any info on my G-greatgrandparents,
John C. GRIFFITH b abt 1810 in TN, and his wife Mary A. LOCK/LUCK.
They are in the 1830 Jackson County, TN census with their first
child, a male under five. They moved to IL before the 1840 census,
and are in the 1840 census of Madison County, Upper Alton, IL.
Their children were: Jefferson b abt 1827TN, Lucille born abt
1830TN, James b abt 1832IL, Montreville b abt 1834IL, John b abt

Looking for information on Hickman and Mary Cordelia
BARNES. Hickman was born in 1868 and died Sept. 2, 1916. Mary
Cordelia BARNES, his wife, was a BARNES, I am told, before she
married Hickman. She was born in 1871 and died in 1935. They had
the following children: Herman Glendon, Irvan, Herbert, Lillie
Mae, Lula, Zula and Nellie. Herman Glendon was my grandfather.
Also would like to find information on Nellie BARNES. I have been
told that Hickman incurred some sort of a head injury that caused
him to be confined at Central Hospital in Nashville until his
death in 1916. His confinement began approximately October 29,
1911. Any information on what happened to him, his parents,

Would anyone have information regarding one James
MURRAY and his wife, Sarah BIRDWELL? Sarah was the daughter of

Maggie Adeline REYNOLDS b. 1870's. His father was John HARGIS m.
Permilia ? I have the REYNOLDS line going back to 1480 but can not
find any connection in the HARGIS line beyond John and Permilia.

Researching gr gr gr grandparents. Gr Gr Gr Grandmother
was a Rebecca REEVES. She married unknown CHERRY somewhere in
Tenn. Know there are CHERRYs in Jackson county. Rebecca was in
nearby Dekalb Co in 1850 census. Only known child is Thomas A.
CHERRY born May 1843. He is my gr gr grandfather. Was indentured
at age 5. Rebecca listed in 1850 census as living with a STEEL
family. Anyone know who this CHERRY might be? Thanks for any

I am a descendant of Jacob Sisco born April, 1803.
Possibly a brother of Saunders Sisco or Isaac F. Sisco born abt
1814. On 1830 Census for Jackson So, Jacob is married. I find him
again in the 1850 census for Caldwell Co Ky and the 1860 and 1870
for Crittenden Co Ky with other Sisco relatives. Jacob's first
wife was Martha. I think her last name may have been Riley. Any
help would be appreciated.

I am looking for information on the parents of Esom
Logan BURKE, b. May 1822 in Jackson County m. Harriett Munday
March 1859. There is general agreement in the literature that
Esom's mother was a GRAVES, probably Elizabeth Graves, but there
is disagreement as to whether his father was JOHN BURKE or WILLIAM
C. BURKE. Any information that can enlighten me on this muddle

supposedly a preacher, possibly Presbyterian / she married Daniel
FREEMAN from Macon Co., TN and moved there / she was mother of Ida

I am updating my query for the new year. Looking for
any info on John Wesley Finn, b 1815, Jackson Co., TN. I have no
info on his parents, possible siblings or cousins may be Rosana,
Nancy, Jane. John Wesley Finn had 7 children (all apparently out
of wedlock) with Lucitta Groves, b circa 1817 Jefferson Co., KY.
John Wesley Finn had all of his children in Adair Co., KY,
eventually settled in IL in late 1870's still with Lucitta. I have
no info on Lucitta's parents or siblings. This has been my stone
wall. John Wesley Finn was business partners with Richard Finn or

I am looking for descendants of John B. Newman and
Bethena Ann Neill. They were married in Meigs County, Tn. on Dec.
6, 1857. They lived in White, Smith and Jackson Counties after
that. Their children were: Sarah Elizabeth b. 25 Feb. 1860,who
married Joseph P. Hamilton. John M. (Jack) b.1863 m/1 Sarah J.
Hamilton in Smith County in 1881, William (Bill) b. 1865, Thomas
b. 1867, Daniel b. May 1870, Jocy F. b. 1873, Martha b. 1875, and
Fate b. 1879 probably in Smith County. John was a widow and living
in Jackson County with daughter Sarah in 1910 & 1920. He died
there in 1922. Son, Jack, married twice and had 3 or 4 boys. He
moved to Sequatchie County, just out from Dunlap. Two of his sons
were named Red and Jim. Red operated a service station. I descend

Does anyone have information about the families of
William MORRELL, William MORRELL JR and Reece (or Reese or
Rese)MORRELL who owned land near the river at Gainesborough
between 1820 and about 1843. The two Williams may have come from
South Carolina. Reece MORREL(L) was born in April 1795 in the Old
Camden District, South Carolina according to family history. Reece
served in Capt. Bailey Butler's company of the Tennessee Militia
in 1813-14.

(EARP) NORTON. They were both born in Bedford County, Tennessee.
He was born around 1837. She was born around 1844. They would
marry in June of 1861. They would later move to the Jackson
County, Tennessee area. Around 1873 they took over raising there
nephew Willie. He was the son of his brother, James. And her

Hello my name is John and I am looking for any info on
John W. Young born 3/25/1828 & died 2/3/1911. He married Helen
S Turner born 3/21/1827 & died 5/5/1898. They are buried in

I am looking for info on Ichabod Mitchell. We know all
of his info from him on down. And we have had his parents in mind,
but a couple of things don't pan out. In his obituary it had said
that he was born Feb. 14, 1790 in Halifax County, VA. Then in 1802
he removed with his parents to Jackson County, TN. But the father
we had in mind for him lived in Warren County, TN. So now i am
thinking maybe it is the wrong father. Ichabod did end up moving
to Hamilton County, IL in 1818. We have all info on him, But not

Looking for any information on John COX. He was born in
Jackson Co. about 1865 and died November 30, 1915 in Sumner Co. He
was married two times. No information on the first wife nor names
of 3 children he had from that union. He brought the first 3
children into his 2nd marriage to my ggrandmother Nora MABRY. He
fathered 3 children with Nora before his death. The children with
Nora are: George Thomas COX, born 1909; Charles Henry COX, born
1914; and Ruth Irene COX, (my grandmother) born Jan 1916 . Nora
MABRY and all 3 of these children were born and raised in Sumner
Co. Charles Henry COX's death info states his father's full name
and that John Thomas COX was born in Jackson Co. There are COXs in
Sumner Co. and I believe he must have been related to one of them
to have even meet my ggrandmother. I can not find him in any
Sumner Co. census thru 1880 on-line. I believe he probably started

Randolph STURDIVANT and Mourning LAMBERT were married
in Mecklenburg County, VA in January of 1797. Also married in
Mecklenburg County, VA was William LAMBERT and Sarah BOTTOM
(1800). A William LAMBERT signed the Petition to the General
Assembly from Jackson County in 1803. Randolph STURDIVANT had his
will recorded in Jackson County, TN 13 Nov 1816, naming his wife
Mourning. The STURDIVANT family is later found in Tuscaloosa
County, AL. Is there a connection between Mourning LAMBERT and the
William LAMBERT who signed the Jackson County petition? Can anyone
add information on LAMBERT and STURDIVANT.

I am looking for information on my g-g-grandfather
BRAXTON HEAD. He married Virginia CHERRY. Thet had atleast 2
children that i know of. Elby HEAD and Isabelle HEAD. Braxton was
a farmer in Jackson county Tn. He died in Dec.16,1926. His wife
died between 1940 and 1950. Braxton's parent's were Issac HEAD and
Locetty WHITSON. They had 7 children. Virginia CHERRY HEAD'S
parents were Matilda Brown and Roy CHERRY. My g-grandmother
Isabelle Head married Henderson-Marvin CRABTREE, on Aug
1,1914.They had 8 children the last 2 were twins 1 boy and 1 girl
on nov.16,1927. They lived to be 3 hours old. I know they were
divorced but not when. Isabelle was born Feb.11,1893 and died nov.
1979 in Thompkinsville Ky. She is buried in Jackson County Tn.I
have also been told that there is Cherokee in the family. Bedford
CHERRY is my g-g-grandmother's Virgina Cherry first cousin. if

In the 1820 census of Jackson Co.TN, there were many
Curtis men listed. They included Joel, Moses and James. I am
researching the family of Josiah Isaiah Curtis, and have reason to
believe that James W. Curtis may be his father. I am wondering if
Joel and Moses may be related to James, and if anyone has any

Hi! I am looking for any information on George M. KIRK,
listed on the 1850 Jackson Co. census with his wife, Rachel, and
their children. Any info on George and/or Rachel (different
sources have her as WILSON and BROWN), who are my ggg

shows the twins with the T.S. TINSLEY Family (7th district #903).

I am working with 3 other CARTER Family Researchers. We
are trying to identify, place in proper family, and determine
relationships, if any, the various CARTER Families that settled
and lived on/near Jennings Creek, Jackson County, TN between 1810
to 1850. This area was in District 4 in 1840 and in Districts 4
and 16 in 1850. Names of head of household include: William (Sr.),
Zachariah, Nelson, Reuben and William (Jr.) CARTER. There very
well may be more that we have not identified, especially the
female family members. All of these men appear to have migrated to

Looking for the wife of John B. McCRORY b. abt 1812 and
owned land on Martin's Creek in Jackson Co. McCRORY's wife is the
niece of the second wife of George W. PRICE b. abt 1798, son of
John PRICE, br. Michael. Primarily looking for 1st and 2nd wife of
George. George also lived on land owned by McCRORY. George's 1st
wife probably related to James CARTER b. 1781. George is in 1850
census Jackson Co. Did George and Michael PRICE have any other
siblings? Robert? Would appreciate any help.

Would anyone have any infomation on families of GIPSON,
TOBIAS OR GIPSON, LEVI prior to 1840's. Half the family moved to
Muhlenburg Ky at or about the Civil War period. WADE GIPSON's
(brother to LEVI GIPSON)decendants stills lives in Muhlenburg

Joseph WHITNEY received land grants in Jackson County
in 1813 and 1816. He was married to a lady named Elizabeth, maiden
name unknown. His sons, Wade, and Aaron served in the war of 1812
in Capt Henry West's company of Col James Raulston's 3rd regiment
from Jackson County. Wade's wife was named Susan, maiden name
unknown. Aaron's wife was named Rachel, maiden name unknown. I
believe this family came to Jackson County from Fairfield District
South Carolina. Wade was my 4th great-grandfather. Does anyone
have any information on this family, such as maiden names of
wives, or sister(s) of Wade and Aaron? Levi LEE of capt Henry
West's company kept a diary during the war of 1812. Does anyone
know where to find a copy of this diary?

Looking for information on the children of William
ROGERS, who was born about 1780-90 in Chester Co., SC, but later
moved to Tennessee. William was the son of Clayton and Betridge
SADLER ROGERS. William supposedly had 14 children -- 4 daugthers
and 10 sons. Of the 10 sons, 7 were supposedly Methodist
ministers. The only offspring I know for certain about is my
great-grandfather, Jefferson C. Rogers, who was born in 1820 in
Tennessee. Jefferson C. married Nancy Adaline CARDER. They lived
in Bledsoe County in 1850, later moved to Smith, White and Wilson
counties. He died in 1906 in Wilson County. There was a William
Rogers listed on the Maury County tax rolls in 1816 and in the
1820 census rolls, and I'm wondering if this could have been my
William or possibly one of his sons. Appreciate any help on this

Simpson Jones b 27 November 1831 Jackson Co Tn and his wife Hester
Alice Brooks born 20 Jan 1837 Jackson Co Tn. This family migrated
to Union Co IL where they died. Children of John & Hester:
Amon Adonis, Sarah Francis, George Haywood, Samuel/Cicero, Mary
Ellen. Their son Samuel/Cicero married Rebecca Elizabeth Hudson
about 1878 IL. She is the daughter of Wm Hudson b 22 June 1825
North Springs, Jackson Co Tn died 17 July 1891 Union Co IL and his
wife Margaret Coons born 16 May 1825 near Red Boiling Springs,
Macon Co Tn and died 8 August 1895 Union Co IL. Children of Wm
Hudson & Margaret Coons Hudson: Sarah Catherine, Dorenda,
Rebecca Elizabeth, Richard Franklin, Riller Frances, Margaret
Elinor, Alice C, Mary M, James M, Mary ?, John R, Walter Scott.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone familiar with either or these
families.

Hi: I am looking for my gr gr gr grandfather, Charles
Lewis DAVENPORT(may be misspelled DEVENPORT). In 1829 he married
Mary A. HARRIS in Sumner County Tn. The family may have lived in
Jackson Co TN in 1830. Charles may have been previously married to
Cecelia WHEELER. In 1840 the family lived in Sumner Co Tn and in
1850 Mary was a widow. The family moved to KY in 1851. Thanks for
