REAVES, RIVES

Timothy RIVES came from NC and showed up on 1810 census in Humphries Co TN with son Timothy. In 1820 census the name is spelled REAVES. They settled on the Duck River in the area that was the Chickasaw town at Paint Rock Bend. The younger Timothy married Elinor Dawes from Alabama and had 7 sons. They farmed the area until the Civil War. The eldest two sons were taken captive by the Union soldiers, and the father was murdered. The wife and younger sons abandoned the farm and fled to Kentucky to escape the Missouri maruaders that killed the husband. I am trying to locate information about these events, the Chickasaw village and those people. I am trying to discover whether I am of Chickasaw descent.
