Cpl. Johnny W. Wanamaker

Cpl. Johnny W. Wanamaker, 19, son of Mrs. Eurena Sinks Wanamaker of Nashville and John Thomas Wanamaker of Taylor, Michigan, was killed March 26 (1968) while on combat operations in South Vietnam.  He served in the Army.

The Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly will be in charge of arrangements.  The funeral will be at 2 p.m. April 6 in the chapel in the funeral home.  Burial will be in the Sinks Cemetery.

Mrs. Wanamaker first received word of her son's death the day after he died from gunshot wounds received when ambushed by hostile forces while on combat operations.

He volunteered for the Army July 18, 1967, and he left for Vietnam on February 17 from Ft. Lewis, Washington.

A native of Humphreys county, he was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wanamaker.  Survivors, in addition to his parents, include three sisters, Mrs. Harold (Sandra) Hiza, Torrance, Calif.; and Madeline and Linda Wanamaker, Nashville; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sinks, Erin, Tennessee.

Annie Lucille Runions WATTS

Annie Lucille Runions WATTS, 76 years old, of Morris Chapel, passed away on April 25, 1999. Mrs. Watts' husband, deceased, was Marvin Watts. Surviving family members are: daughters, Shirley Matlock, Morris Chapel, Clara Faulkner and Marilyn Watts, Sardis, Katie Shelby and Patricia Overby, Savannah; sons, Richard Watts, Niantic, Ill., Ray Watts, Decatur, Ill., Roy Watts and Johnny Watts, Morris Chapel; sisters Hattie Mitchell, Unionville, Betty Russell, Waverly; brother, Dean Runions, Milan; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Shackelford Chapel, Shackleford Funeral home being in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Watts was buried at the Morris Chapel Cemetery.

Worthy Notes: Mrs. Watts, a homemaker, was a member of the Sharon Baptist Church.

Clark H. Wells

Age 73

Tuesday, December 20, 1994 at his home. A native of Caro, Michigan. He was the son of the late William H. and Mildred Pierce Wells. Mr. Wells was a Member of First Church of the Nazarene, a Veteran of World War II and retired from the United Sates Air force in 1963. Mr. Wells was a retired Employee of the Tennessee Dept. of Human Services, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Member of the Old Hickory Lodge #598. Survived by two daughters Mrs. John (Lorind <

Mary Josephine Wells

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 30, 1995, at Roesch Patton Auston Bracey & Charlton Funeral Home for Mary Josephine (Jo) Wells of Nashville.

Ms. Wells, 67, died suddenly Jan. 27.

Internment was at Wyly Cemetery. Luff-Bowen funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Wells was assistant chief of the contracting division of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Pickney of Nashville and Lorinda Gambill; and five grandchildren.
