JACKSON, Johnny J.

Johnny J. Jackson, 56, of Denver,Tennessee died in Vanderbilt Hospital,September 30,after an illness of 5 weeks. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. October 3 at Ebenezer Church by E.T. McCoy of Camden and U.P. Chambers of Ripley, Tennessee. Burial was in the Ebenezer cemetery with Garland-Hensley in charge.

Mr. Jackson was a commercial fisherman and a native of Humphreys County. He was the son of the late Ross Jackson and Mrs. Ella Cravens Jackson, and a member of the Assembly of God.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife,Mrs. Macil Chappell Jackson of Denver; three sons, Bobby, Oneal, and jerry Wayne, all of Denver; two daughters, Mrs. Bobby Burkett, Denver and Mrs. Clay Turner, Chicago, Ill.; four brothers,Carl, Genie, Elmer, and max of Denver;four sisters, Mrs. John Etheridge,Denver, Mrs. Herbert Wheeler,Memphis, Mrs. James Edwards, Chicago,Ill. And Mrs. Stanley Damesworth, Gleason, Tennessee and 10 grandchildren.

JACKSON, Macil Elizabeth Chappell

Mrs. Macil Elizabeth Jackson, age 67, was dead on arrival at Benton County General Hospital on Monday, March 7,1977.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Denver, Tennessee with burial in the church cemetery. Stockdale-Malin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements locally.

Born in Humphreys County on July 1, 1909 she was the daughter of the late Albert Warren and Ada Elnore (Edwards) Chappell. She was married to the late Johnny J. Jackson.

Surviving her are two daughters, Kathleen Turner and Irene Edwards, both of Denver; three sons, Bobby C. Jackson, Oneal Jackson and Jerry Jackson, all of Denver; three sisters, Pearl Jackson, Ida Pruitt, both of Denver and Bernice Donegon of Dickson; four brothers, Glenn Chappell, Coy Chappell and Clyde Chappell, all of Denver and Wade Chappell of Vanlear, Tenn; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

JACKSON, Willard O'Neal
Funeral services were held Sunday,Jan.4,2004, at the Humphreys County Funeral Home for Willard O' Neal JACKSON of New Johnsonville.Mr. Jackson, 69, died Jan.1.
The Rev. Bobby Gene JACKSON officiated the service, with interment at Ebenezer Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by the Humphreys County Funeral Home.
Mr. JACKSON was born in Humphreys County Jan. 30, 1934. He was a member of Woodman of the World.
Mr. JACKSON was the son of the late Johnny J. and Macil Elizabeth CHAPPELL JACKSON.
He was married to Joyce ATCHISON JACKSON of New Johnsonville.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, includetwo sons and a daughter-inlaw ; Richard O. and Donna JACKSON and Gary Ray JACKSON, all of New Johnsonville; two brothers and sisters-in law, Jerry Wayne and Bobbie JACKSON and Bobby C. and Frances JACKSON, all of New Johnsonville,two sisters ; Kathleen J. TURNER of New Johnsonville and Ethel Irene EDWARDS of Camden, three grandchildren ; KendalJACKSON, Katrina JACKSON and LeeJACKSON, all of New Johnsonville; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. JACKSON was preceded in death by a brother, Franklin JACKSON, and two sisters, Maggie May and Nancy JACKSON.

JONES, Bessie Lou Taylor 

Bessie Lou Taylor JONES, 99 years old, died April 24, 1999. Her parents were: Andrew and Nannie Sanders Taylor, both deceased. Her late husband was Jesse T. Jones. Surviving family members: son, Jesse T. Jones, Jr., Old Hickory, TN.; 3 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jones resided in Nashville, TN, Davidson, County. Bro. Lee Brown, Waverly, conducted the funeral service at Luff Bowen Chapel, Luff Bowen Funeral Home. Mrs. Jones was buried in the Young Cemetery.

Worthy Notes: Mrs. Jones, born in Nunnelly, spent most of her life in Humphreys County. She was a retired sewing machine worker at the Waverly Garment Co. and was a member of the Church of Christ at Bold Springs.

KNIGHT, Joshua Y.

J. Y. Knight, the subject of this brief notice was born, June 3, 1809. He professed religion at White Oak Campground, in September,
1836, and attached himself to the White Oak congregation of theCumberland Presbyterian Church. Shortly afterwards, he was elected and
ordained a ruling elder, in which capacity, he served the Church untilNovember 23, 1871, when it pleased the great Head of the Church to call
him from his labors on earth to his reward in heaven. He was ready. Not a doubt or fear was there to mar his peace in the dying hour. Blessed
are the dead which die in the Lord! A. J. PARRISH.

KNIGHT, Mary Ether

daughter of J. and B. Knight, was born July 22, 1882; died at her home, Humphreys county, Tenn., August 15, 1893. Ether
was a lovely child and much beloved by all who knew her. Judging from her conversation we are satisfied that she is now one of the angels. So
weep not fond parents, little Ether is waiting and watching for you on the other shore.

LAIRD, Margaret Ethel

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at the Humphreys County Funeral Home for Margaret Ethel Laird of Hurricane Mills. Ms. Laird, 83, died March 29. Raymond Cockerham officiated the service, with interment at Walker Cemetery. Arrangements were made by the Humphreys County Funeral Home. Ms. Laird was a native of Humphreys County, daughter of the late Richard and Chloebell Laird. Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Brewer; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

LEHMAN, Helena Christina

Funeral services were held Thursday, April 1, 1999, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church for Helena Christina Lehman of McEwen. Miss Lehman, 104, died March 30. The Rev. John Sims Baker officiated the service, with burial at St. Patrick Cemetery. Luff Bowen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Miss Lehman was born in McEwen and spent most of her life inHumphreys County. She was a retired self-employed seamstress and member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Miss Lehman was the daughter of the late Ed and Mary Holloran Lehman. Survivors include a sister, Lucille Lehman of McEwen; a brother, James L. "Cooper" Lehman of McEwen; and several nieces and nephews.
