I am in search of information on the HANEY family, my great
grandfather was Landon Charley HANEY who was born on Feb 22, 1852 in
Nashville, TN. I have his brother as Jim Harvey HANEY who died on Jan
30, 1914. Other information I have is a list of his second cousins as
Jessie, Frank, and James. I also know that he moved away to Missouri
and married Minnie KIRK. Any information on the HANEY family would be

I'm searching for a marriage which would have occurred in Henderson
County between the years 1845-1860. Groom's name was Ben/Benjamin/
B.F. WINCHESTER. Bride's given name of Marcia/Marian/Jane, or a
combination of Marian Jane or Marcia Jane.
If a marriage index for these years exists, I'd sure appreciate a
lookup. ancestry.com lists marriages to 1825 and from 1851-1900,
which doesn't cover my time period.

I am looking for descendants of the UPTEGROVE/UPTIGROVE families and

Looking for information on Henry D. LITTREAL who was born about 1842
in TN. His first wife was Elizabeth J. HOLLOWAY in AL and his second
wife was Alice Belle HACKER married in AR, but according to the
information on ancestry.com, when they married she was going by the
name of Alice B. DALTON, as she had been married 3 times prior to
Henry. I'm interrested in knowing who his parents were, where they

listed as Yuma, Carroll
Co, but in the 1920 census, the family was again living in
Wildersville, Henderson Co.
My late grandfather, James Garfield, shortened the name to ATKINS,
for reasons known
only to him, and I discovered this after years of trying to trace my
roots. Unfortunately,
with his parents (Henry and Corina) I am again at a brick wall. Any

I am looking for the ancestors of Mary Magdalene DELINDER (1790) who
married Daniel DERRYBERRY (1789) and Delender DERRYBERRY (1790). I am
trying to see if Mary is possibly part of my DILLENDER family who
lived in TN in the early 1800's in Lincoln, Logan, and Williamson.
I find Mary and Delender in 1850 in Henderson CO TN. Daniel
apparently died in 1843.

I have found a J.D. REAVES in the 1880 census of Henderson Co. along
with his wife Marindie, and 2 sons and 1 dau. The children are from
another marriage. I believe Marindie was Marinda Bradford the dau. of
James C. BRADFORD, who lived next to him in this census. Marinda later
married Rev. W.W. DEW in Madison Co. Jan 1892. She became my
GGrandMother. I sure would like any info on these folks.

WILKINS. I have him on the 1850 Arkansas Census with 3 children, all
girls. Frances born 1843, Catherine born 1845, and Elizabeth born
1848. One place says the first 2 girls were born in Tennessee, and

This was in reply to Phillip GOFF on the Ancestry.com SHELBY message
board. He was wanting to know where I obtained my information, as
records in Henderson Co courthouse were destroyed by fire.
On August 11, 1952, Mrs E.M. WALTON (Lola), of Beulah, MS, wrote to
Cass K SHELBY who was living in Hollidaysburg, PA. They were working
together on researching the SHELBY's. She stated the following:
"One of the three books saved from the Henderson County, TN court
house fire proves that Wade H SHELBY was there
1848-1849-1850-1851-52. He paid school taxes on 3 children those
years. The book ends with 1852"
This may prove to be more frustrating than helpful, but those 3 books
may be safe somewhere.

families were listed in Jacks Creek Voting Precinct. Does anyone

John Benjamin FREEMAN married about 1892 to Louellen WALKER. They
had son John Thomas FREEMAN who was called Tommy. He had sons J. W.,
Homer, John Thomas Jr., Billy Neal, and Roy FREEMAN. Were these 5
sons raised in Henderson Co.? On his obit in 1954 in Henderson, it
said Tommy's 5 sons lived in Portageville, Mo. Also says he had 3
half brothers, Robert FREEMAN of Tupelo, Miss., Charles FREEMAN of

Samuel MCCOLLUM married Mary DAVENPORT c. 1858. There were three
sons, John Frasier, Stephen Daniel, and Isaac Fletcher. Fletcher was
born after his father's death in the Civil War and his mother died 6
months later. He and his brothers were reared by families in
Henderson County. Fletcher was my grandfather and was reared by a
lady in the Alfred W. MIDDLETON family. I think her name may have

I am trying to find any info on my greatgrandfather Noah/Noey HENDRIX
b. between 1861 and 1880 in TN. or MS. He Married Mattie JONES in TN.
She is believed to be of Indian descent. They had four boys (twins)
James and Charles HENDRIX one died in infancy due to fever. Do not
know which one. Oliver bornie Warn HENDRIX b.1901 Tupelo, MS. d.1958
Butler, Co. MO. and Andrew Jackson HENDRIX b. 1903 Corinth MS. d.
1960 Stoddard, Co. MO. Mattie Jones HENDRIX died in 1910 of a gunshot
wound to the head. It was said that her half brother Dalton BROWN
accidentally shot her while cleaning a gun and he helped Noah bury
her on the property they lived on in McNairy, Co. TN. But some of the
family say that Noah shot her out of anger. We have no records of
Noah with Mattie. The record we have of Noah HENDRIX was after Mattie
died in 1910 and he is already living in the same house with another
woman Frances Lucus VAUGHN. The twin boys are not in this census but

I am looking for any information on DOCK CLAY. I found him in the
census of 1870 & 1880 in Henderson, TN. He was married and had kids.
He was in the Civil War and received a pension from the military. I
can find nothing before the civil war on him. I would like to know
who his parents were, any brothers or sisters or any other info that

I am looking for information on a Flossie CAGLE from Henderson
County. She married a Thomas Berry from Pennsylvania and had at least
one child, Thomas Timothy Berry. I am looking for any information on
Flossie Cagle and any additional children she may have had. Based on

Looking for information on Isaac CAGLE. He was married to Martha M.
GULLEDGE, and they had 9 children. Believe they mostly lived around
Bradies Landing, Decatur Co, but he died in Henderson Co. Trying to
found out where he might be buried, either in Henderson Co, or
maybe Decatur Co. Any information you have on these Cagle's would be
appreciated. Also looking for information on his son Lige CAGLE.
Anything on these Cagle's that would help me out on finding
information of them. Also trying to find out where Lige CAGLE might
be buried. He died in May of 1936, and Isaac CAGLE died in
Henderson Co in 1902.

My great aunt was Grace LUNDY who married John Walter THREADGILL
4-03-1921 and are buried at Sand Ridge Cemetery. Also another great
aunt Louella Lundy (Grace's sister) married Pete THREADGILL and they
are buried at the Old Bethal Cemetery. Grace was born in 1903 and

SINGLETON, Thomas and Caroline and dau. Martha appear on 1860 Census
of Henderson Co., TN. Can anyone identify Caroline? Was she the
same Caroline who married Wm. H. MANN 1872 Dyer Co., TN and later
moved to Crittenden Co., KY? By 1870 census of Henderson Co., TN
Caroline has Martha 13 and Thomas 11. Any information on either

My Great Grandfather, James Newton COX, was b. 28 Nov 1851, in TN
(don't know the county, but likely in Western TN; possibly Henry or
Carroll, as his wife's folks came from there; possibly nearby
Henderson, Weakley or Gibson, or possibly even further south in
Hardeman, Hardin, Chester or McNairy); d. 01 May 1929 in Wilson Co.,
TX (likely Floresville, near San Antonio). He married Louisa Mildred
THOMASON, b. 17 Jul 1848 in Ouachita, AR, in 1876 (She would have
been Lou M. WHITE at that time, having previously married Hugh L.
White in 1871; one son, Oscar, b. 1873). James & Mildred L./Lou M.
Cox had four sons: Berry A., Forest J., Claude M. & Eugene Ernest.
Claude M. [Milton] Cox (Sr.) was my father's father.
Searching for anyone who might have further information on James
Newton Cox's family, as I cannot carry him back any further than his
birth in 1851. Thank you.

Hello. I am seeking the name of my Grandfather's first wife. He used
his initals mostly I.A.E. BOX but went by the name of Edward. His
parents were Edward and Leticia [HAYS} BOX. He lived at Bible Hill,
but married a lady with the initals of A.E..... from Henderson.
They married in 1886, had a son T.W.E.[Tommy] on 8/13/1887, had a
daughter Lulu H. on 9/10/1890, and his wife died 11/1889. She is
buried at Foster Cemetery with the headstone only with A.E. Box. He
returned to Decatur County and the baby died 7/13/1890 and Tommy
died 8/2/1998. Hope someone could help. This is one of my
*mysteries* and I would like to have a proper rememberance of her.

I am searching for any TUBB records.
Drury/Drewry married Martha TUBB, daughter of George TUBB and
Elizabeth TUBB, on 2 Sep 1805 in Greenville Dist., SC. Martha was
born about 1787 in Henderson County, TN. She died about 1860 in
Acton, Hood County, TX.
Their son, John W. Middleton, wrote in his memoirs that several of
his mother's family had fought in the Rev. War, but gave no details.
I am a decendant.
