My name is Robert Reed Morris. I am looking for the father of James G
MORRIS, my ggg g/f b about 1816 in N.C. He was in the 1860 census in
Henderson Co. Tn. He was also in an Agriculture census that same year
but was dead by the spring term of court in 1861. As he had no will,
the court appointed his father-in-law to take care of his children.
James G married Mahala BENSON b about 1824. Her father was Eleven
BENSON b 1793 and died in 1875 in He Co Tn and buried in Barren
Springs Tn. James G's wife, Mahala also disappeared at the same time
as James G. I will list their children:

John James, my gg g/f b 29 Jan 1847 HeCo Tn d 2 Feb 1918 Tate Co MS,

Looking for any information on the David RHODES shown in the 1840
Census, Henderson County, TN, Page 347. Family included David; Wife
Elizabeth; Children Jane, Ellen, and William Henry Harrison. By
1850, the family had moved to Ballard County, KY. Jane was
supposedly born in IL; Ellen and William Henry Harrison were
supposedly born in TN.

Maryweather Co., GA. 2. Amanda Euphamia Maysey. There are children
from both marriages.
Documented William Duke through 1880 Census as living in AR. He
stated his father and mother were from TN.

I'm searching for info about Athleston Andrews who died in Henderson
Co. in 1839. He is buried at the Harmon Cemetery at Lexington. I'm
searching for directions to go to the cemetery. Also, Athleston was
married to Polly Hill who died in Henderson Co. in 1841. This Harmon
Cemetery was the property of Sally Harmon's family; she married Gary
Blount Andrews, s/o Athleston. I'm also searching for Raleigh J.
Cagle who was born in Henderson Co. in 1824. Raleigh J. Cagle's
father Isaac Cagle married Nancy Duty about 1813 in Henderson Co.

I am searching for info about the families of Andrews, Johnson, and
Bussell. Abagail Johnson married Churchill Andrews in Henderson Co.
about 1826 or 1827. She was born in 1800 in S.C. Churchill Andrews'
father was Athleston Andrews who was in Henderson Co. in 1820.
Abagail Johnson Andrews and Churchill Andrews were in Wilson Co. by
1830. In 1850 they were in Marshall Co., Ms. Angievine Andrews,
their daughter, married Houston Bussell in about 1860. The Bussell
family were from Tn. In the 1850 census there was a Houston Bussell
whose parents were Wm. Bussell and Judah Johnson in Tn. I'd
appreciate any info about this family; I'd be glad to share what info
I have.

Starling. Do not know their dates of birth or marriage. Two daughters
were born to them, my grandmother, Dolly Sue, born 2/2/1895 died

I am doing research on my ancestors that were at some time in
Henderson County Tennessee. My main branches are Sirenious REED
(Joseph Jr., Joseph) and Sarah Ann WALLACE (Jacob, Peter Docturn,
Miles, etc). James Henderson SCOTT (William Carrol, Alexander William
SCOTT) & Margaret Delaney RHODES (Tilman, Israel RHODES) I have done
extensive research in Henderson County. I have completely lost Tilman
RHODES, don't know where he went, don't know where he died. I have a
lot of info on Sirenious REED and James Henderson SCOTT, like a lot
of other people I am trying to find out where the first Joseph REED
that came into the county was from and his parents. Would like to

The below listed men from the GA 12th Lt. Artillery died in a train
wreck on 6 July 1862, at a place called Johnson Station reported to
be somewhere near Ringgold, GA. Johnson Station may have been a
siding for wood or coal, or water. It is not shown on any maps. A
description of the Accident and rosters are at the following

I am looking for the parents of Green Clay OLIVER, b 1817 in Madison
Co. TN. He married Susan GRANT in 1838, but I cannot locate a
marriage record. She is the eldest dau. of Dock Spencer GRANT, son of
John GRANT. One of their children was Eliza Adelia OLIVER, b 1852,
Madison Co, but cannot locate birth record. By 1860 they are in Red
River County, TX and later Adelia has married Winfield Scott MORRIS
of NC. Looking for their marriage record as well. Green (GC) and
Susan OLIVER buried in Red River Co. TX. Eliza Adelia and Winfield
Scott MORRIS buried in Delta Co. TX. Where and when did Green
OLIVER's parents die? Also, it was always passed along that these
GRANTS were related to U.S. GRANT, but so far I haven't found a

Trying to locate information on a Lidge Brown or wife. Her name was
Lena or Rena. Maiden name Griffin or Griffith. They had one son G.
W. (Initial name only) Brown. He was born in Decatur, TN and lived in
the Scotts Hill area before moving to Moscow, TN in the late 1930's

Am looking for information on gr.gr.grandfather and mother who moved
to the Henderson Co Tennessee area around 1860. They moved from
Tishomingo Co. Mississippi. Information I have so far is:
James Alfred Moore b. 1813(?) believe to have been born in Wales,
mar. to Angleine or Alameeda Durham b.1829(?) believe to have been
born in Georgia. They married in Tishomingo Co Miss. in July 1844. I
know of at least 4 children William b. 1845, James 1846, Robert 1849
or 50 and George 1863(?) I descend from Robert. Robert married
Melvina Todd, and I can find these two in the 1880 Census with the
young George living with them, and several of Robert and Melvina's
children, but cannot find information from 1860 or 1870. Would
like to know if anyone would have any information on the James and
Angeline/Alameeda marriage or family. I do not know anything about
these two other than their approximate bdates from the one census I
have been able to research and also by info on the marriage. Have

ARGOE. My ggreatfather married a woman named Sarah AGUER as it was
spelled in our family bible. However, I've come to believe the
spelling is questionable. The name ARGOE appears near the name ARNOLD
in a 1836 & 1837 Tax List. So on this slim bit of info. I would
appreciate any lead on the marriage of JAMES ARNOLD to SARAH AGUER
(ARGOE)about 1844.

I am researching my BOWMAN side of my family. My great great
grandmother MARY SHERROD married PLEASANT BOWMAN in 1860 in Madison
County, Tennessee. PLEASANT BOWMAN served in the Civil War and he
enlisted in Henderson County, Tennessee. I think he died during the
war. MARY SHERROD BOWMAN married JOSHUA BOWMAN on December 15, 1867
in Madison County, Tennessee. He also served in the Civil War and

Looking for information on a family which lived in the
Henderson/Hardin county area around the 1860's to 1880's.
GrGrgrandfather James Alford Moore GrGrgrandmother Angeline or
Alameeda Durham. Found in the 1850's Tishomingo Co census but then
moved to this area sometime afterward. I am descendant of one of the
sons. Wanting information on Robert Nelson Moore, who also had 3

Saluda J. DICKEY or DICKEY married Peter McBride PEARCE in 1862. I
believe they lived in the Mifflin, Henderson County, Tennessee until
around 1870. They had 2 children: Jerry Newman PEARCE (b 13 May 1863,
d 3 October 1930 in N. E. Arkansas) and Richard Haynes PEARCE (b 2
December 1865, d 13 March 1907 in N. E. Arkansas).
The family folk lore is that Saluda was a Cherokee Indian and that
Peter abandoned Saluda and moved to Arkansas where he married Rebecca
Deliah CASE in 1872 had 7 more children.

Could anyone give me good directions to the PLEASANT HILL CEMETERY. I
am planning a trip the first of June and want to visit it. I have
several relatives burried thare. Below is what I found on the
internet. Also does anyone know where the site of the old Cool
Springs Methodist Church was. My g grandfather, Robert Grandereson

Mary Lightfoot STONE (1835/37 NC - 1858 HeCoTN) md. Dr. Giles WALLER
(1824 Duplin Co., NC - Nov 1885 HeCoTN). This is my #1 headache.
Mary was orphaned, supposedly had brothers - plural - who put her in
a boarding school in Hardeman Co. (?) after their parents died. Who
are these brothers? Mary died young (aged 21-23) having her third
child, who also didn't survive. Only the name LIGHTFOOT has been
passed down as a clue, and the persistent oral tradition that she was
part Cherokee.
Mary STONE, age 13, was enumerated in the 1850 census with the John
CAVINESS family.
Any help or suggestions will be most welcome!

LATHAM, Malcolm, went by the name Mally, was b. in 1821 and died abt.
1890 in Graves Co., KY.
He married Almira, had a son William. On the 1860 Henderson Co.
census he is listed as married to second wife,Julia. They had a
daughter Nancy T. who was left in TN when her Mother died and Mally
moved to Kentucky. Nancy was left with the McCall family to raise
her.
Some say he was the son of William and Catherine Brower Latham.

Elias W.RIDLEY is found on 1870 census, age 15, for HENDERSON CO. On
1880 census for MADISON CO. he is listed as 28 with a wife and 9 year
old son. Lose him until 1900 when he turns up in LEFLORE CO. MISS.
I can trace him from there. On the 1870 census he is living in the
home of Edmond LONG. Matthew Ridley had lived near by but I cannot
find a connection. He died in 1867. Perhaps Elias was an orphan. I
there anyone there with any clues or suggestions? Anyone out there
seeking a RIDLEY? I know there were a lot of them in Henderson Co.
though mine doesn't seem to be one of them.

Elizabeth CLINTON and they had five children: William Riggs, James A.,
Ollie Nick, Robert Lee, and Ader Blanche. I know that William Riggs
lived in this area at one time, because my Grandmother Lillie Mai
JAMES went to school in Pinson. Any information would be great.

My name is Robert Reed Morris.
I am looking for the father of James G MORRIS, my ggg g/f b about
1816 in N.C. He was in the 1860 census in Henderson Co. Tn. He was
also in an Agriculture census that same year but was dead by the
spring term of court in 1861. As he had no will, the court appointed
his father-in-law to take care of his children. James G married
Mahala BENSON b about 1824. Her father was Eleven BENSON b 1793 and
died in 1875 in He Co Tn and buried in Barren Springs Tn. James G's
wife, Mahala also disappeared at the same time as James G. I will
list their children:

I am searching for the parents of my great grandmother, Patsy POPE.
Her given name is Patsellei, (aka) as Martha Elizabeth. She was b. in
1827 in TN, d. 13 Dec 1886. Patsy married William Harvey SPAIN, b. 6
Jun 1826 in TN. In the 1850 Henderson Co., TN census I find them with
their first born Sarah. In 1855 they are in Carroll Co., TN. Then
in 1859 they moved to Paragould, Greene Co., AR. They have 11
children. Patsy and Wm Harvey are buried in Fairview Cemetery,
Paragould, AR. Their youngest child, Louiza Ellen SPAIN is my
grandmother. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I am looking for information on Miles HAMLER, found on the 1880
Henderson Co, TN census, Supervisors's dist 4, page 56. He is 13,
working as a farm laborer for a man named Elijah WILLIAMS, age 38.
Miles is shown as living in WILLIAMS household. The story is that
Miles's mother died about this time and he left home. He eventually
made his way to Red River Co, TX where he met and married Mary Ann
MCDANIEL. I am looking for Miles HAMLER's parents, and the
relationship between him and Elijah WILLIAMS. Thanks for any info.

I am looking for information on Jordan Fuller SMITH, born Sept. 9,
1849 and his wife Leanah COATS. Their son Robert Ray SMITH was born
in Lexington on August 25, 1891. They all eventually lived in

REED b. 1756 in NC & died in 1816 in Wilson Co., TN. Their son,

Co., TN. He married Elizabeth DAVIS b. 1780 in NC & died in Wilson
Co., TN Oct. 1843. Elizabeth's father was Isham DAVIS b- 1750
Halifax Co., NC died 19 Jul 1830 in Wilson Co., TN. Another ancestor
was John PAYNE b. 1790 Lebannon, Wilson Co., TN- married Elizabeth
(?) who was born in 1792 in Lebannon, Wilson co., TN. My last
ancestor is: John Randolph BRAY jr. b. 21 July 1860 in Lexington?,
