Looking for info on Sarah "Sallie" THREADGILL 8/25/1869-8/20/1898. What
I have: Married John T. JOHNSON Feb 8,1894; "may have married a Robert
WALLACE before"; child of C.H. "Henry" THREADGILL and E. JAMES.
John T. JOHNSON also may have remarried a Lillie ROE in 1900 and he
had a brother John Needum JOHNSON.

Seeking information on my ggrandfather J E LAWLER b 1 Aug 1859
married PERNICIE GORE from KY sometime between 1880 and 1885. Looks
like a lot of family move to TX. the following show up on 1917 Dawson
TX tax roll. A E LAWLER, H E LAWLER, A J LAWLER, Think they were all
his brothers.

I'm not sure if this is current county but with name Henderson I
thought it was a possibility. I found them in 1850 census for
Illinois with birthplaces in Tenn.

James T. DOUGLASS d. 1866 Henderson County TN (p. 458 County Court
Minute Book, 1860-1866), was made guardian over DUNCAN children in
1862. Elizabeth and A.Y. DOUGLASS were appointed guardians over the
children in 1866. Any help on this DOUGLASS family and DUNCAN
children?
Back then to pre 1838, Jane ? b. 1813 TN (married Moses DUNCAN),
widow of John G. (P.?) DOUGLASS - looking for Jane and John G.
DOUGLASS in Tennessee pre-1838. Need to know whether my GGfather

Elizabeth HUTCHINS was an Indian squaw who married Jeffrey POWERS.
Elizabeth HUTCHINS was from Kentucky and Jeffrey POWERS was from
Ireland and became a citizen on 05-09-1834. They had eight children,
Barbara Ellen, Mary Ann born around 1825, Robert born around 1818,
Josephine, Mathilda, Jerome, James and Elizabeth POWERS.

Need info on ancestors and descendants of Hampton House STRATTON and
Susan BAKER whose children Uriah (1825), James D. (1828), and John M.
(1830) were said to have been born in Henderson Co., TN. Later the
family moved to Obion County. The 1850 census lists other children:
William, Cynthia, Nancy, Charles, Hampton and Thomas. In 1860 the
family had moved to Bollinger Co., MO. The census for that year adds
Susan, born in 1851. There could be more children. Any info on these
children would be appreciated. I could share info on Hampton, Jr who
is my ggrandfather. Would also like to know of Hampton, Sr's brothers
and sisters who may have stayed in Henderson County?

My Parkers lived in west Tennessee around Madison, Gibson, Tipton,
Lauderdale and Hardeman Co's.
My grandfather is William A. PARKER. He was last enumerated in
Tipton Co. in 1920 under the name (PARKE). He married Loemma
Kuykendall. Their children are Paul (my father), Ann Ruth, Robert,
William and Luther. I think Luther was a Bradley or Bosley from a
previous marriage.
In my father's bible, he lists a William R. PARKER as his grandfather
and Mary Lowe Clark as his grandmother .
I think William R. was from around the Parker crossroads area,
related to Redmond PARKER who was the son of Dr. David and Mary
PARKER. I have no documentation.
I will happily send all I have on my Parker's if you want. Love to
share too.

I have a THOMAS BOSWELL, who married a MARY SIMS, in Caswell, Co.
N.C. in 1802. His father was a EDWARD BOSWELL, from Prince William,
Co. Va.. Her parents were GEORGE SIMS, wife ZEBIAH RICE, from
Caswell. Co. N.C.
THOMAS and MARY SIMS BOSWELL, moved to Henderson, Co. Tn. in 1820
and he died in 1822 in Henderson, Co. Tn. I also have a BERRY ALLEN
DAVIS, born in 1805 in N.C.and came to Henderson, Co. Tn. with the

early 1800's. Martha Sue HINSON born 25-Febuary-1864 died
02-Febuary-1955 (father John HINSON) married George Washington

Searching for information on Thomas and Jasper HARMON, listed in the
1850 Henderson Co. census. Thomas was age 15, living with the John
SMITH family. Jasper was 18, married, and had one child. They gave
Alabama as their birthplace.

The 1900 census shows a William F. PEARSON, age 10 as a boarder of
Ervan PRUETT and wife Rebecca. William F. PEARSON was the youngest
son of Moses W "Wily" PEARSON who I am researching. This leads me to
believe that Moses W "Wily" PEARSON and his wife Jeanette must have
died between 1890 and 1900 in Henderson County. Does anyone have any
information on why William would have been a boarder at 10 years of
age? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Minnie GILBERT was formerly Postmistress of Luray in Henderson
County. In 1979 I was told that she was somehow related to my
grandfather, Richard "Dick P." ALLEN, who lived in Luray until his
death at age 75 in 1924. After his death, Dick P.'s widow Sally
married Lafayette "Lev" STANFILL, who was reportedly a postman in the
1920's and possibly later. I would appreciate hearing from anyone
who can shed some light on how Minnie GILBERT relates to my ALLENs.

On Aug.16 1832 in Henderson County TN Terisha/Teresha JOHNSON
age 70 made an application for his Rev. War. benefits. His wife was
Hannah age 47 and one son at home, a Stephen Van Rensselar JOHNSON age
7 (abt 1825).
He served in the Virginia Line and lived in Mecklenburg Va.
In Volume 1 History of Humphreys County, Teresha JOHNSON is the
father of Len Johnson Sr. born 1797. His son was Len JOHNSON Jr. who
married Mary Martha TURNER born 1833. It lists her Parents and Grand
parents and more on this family is in Volume 2 History of Humphreys
Co.
Len Johnson Sr. 1797 is buried at Johnson/Clark Cemetery in
Montgomery County Tennessese along with Len Johnson Jr.
Another Son is identified as R.L. Johnson married Virginia Greenwood
brn Aug. 22 1838 died Feb 16 1883 buried at Johnson Clark Cemetery in
Montgomery County Ten.
Len Johnson Sr owned a large Plantation at New Providence, Montgomery
Co. TN.
I am looking for more connections to this family and would be willing
to share.

I am looking for anyone who might have any information on Thomas
ARNOLD, son of Ephraim N. ARNOLD and Polly HENRY. Thomas was b.
2/20/1820. He had siblings...John, Ezra, Patterson, Martha

I am trying to find John DENNISON who was born in Tennessee in the
early 1880's. He moved to Texas in between 1905-1910. He is my
great-grandfather and we are at a complete dead-end with him. All I

In the 1880 Census, vol. 15, there is a listing for a M. PEARSON and
family. One of the children's names is Marion, age 16. I am trying
to find out if this Marion is my ggrandfather. Does anyone have any
information on this family? Other children listed are Frances,
Martin, Rebecca, wife's name is Jeanette. My ggfather's full name
was Marion Homer, born Oct. 14, 1864. I know he was from TN, but do
not know where. He died in Austin, Travis County, TX on March 5,
1931. He was married to Pinkie Rowan and they had nine children.

I am searching for my Sherrod roots. My great great grandmother was
Mary Sherrod. I don't know who her parents were. I know that she
possibly was somehow connected to Henry B. Sherrod and Anna Codgel,
but I really don't have proof. She married in 1860 to Pleasant
Bowman and then in 1878 married Joshua Bowman, who I believe was a
brother to Pleasant. I have the marriage record and her name is
listed as Mary Sherrod to Pleasant Bowman and then Mrs. Mary Bowman
to Joshua. I know that she possibly had several younger brothers and
sisters. Their names were, Susan Sherrod, William Sherrod Ben F.
Sherrod, Allen B. Sherrod and Roxanne Sherrod. I don't seem to find
any connection to these Sherrods to any Sherrod so far. Any help
would be appreciated. I got a letter from someone today from Jackson,
Tennessee, but I don't have an email address to send them the

Searching parents/siblings of James EVANS married to Theodocia (last
name unknown). Children were: Phelan (b 1893), Martin, Lawson
Augustus, Eulas, Annie Louise (b 1885).
Annie Louise EVANS married Harry F. ROBERTS in 1909. They had (2)
children: Harry Burke (b 1910) and Annie Thelma (b 1913). Annie
Louise EVANS/Harry ROBERTS lived on farm 17 miles from Henderson,
Tennessee. She died in 1917 at age 32.

Seeking information on SHERROD's and BOWMAN's from Henderson Co
in 1840-1900. My great great grandmother was Mary SHERROD born
December 1839 in NC moving to Henderson Co, sometime after 1840. I don't know which SHERROD family she was from. I think she married Pleasant BOWMAN who is listed on the 1850 Census with David BOLIN and family. Pleasant was 10 years old. She then married Joshua M. BOWMAN. He is not on the 1850 Census in Henderson Co, TN. Both Pleasant and Joshua BOWMAN served in the Civil War in the 51st TN Infantry in the Confederate Army. Searching for info on Edward (E. or I.) SPAIN, born 4/8/1845 in

The History of Scott's Hill stated that Absalom, Alfred, and Samuel
McCOLLUM, brothers in Henderson County, had a fourth brother whose
name no one could recall. He had a son, William, known locally to be
Squire Bill. I believe this brother was named D.K. McCOLLUM as
Samuel is listed in his household in 1850, and he had a son named
William at that time. I would further guess that his name was
Daniel. He would have been born about 1825. Does anyone have any
information that can confirm or refute this? I would appreciate the
help.
Also, I am searching for the father of these men, believed to
possibly be Absalom Hezekiah McCOLLUM, born in "Corn" (no such place
but probably an abbreviation) Ireland. They lived in NC until
sometime after 1818 to before 1830.

WILSON Alfred My g grandfather was born in Henderson County in
1821. His brother Berry WILSON was born there also in 1827. The

Looking for information on the BEAL family of Henderson County. My
Great Grandfather was William Thomas BEAL married to Ophelia OLIVE.
Some information has lead me to believe that his father's name was
Harvey BEAL married to Fannie ANDERSON? I do know that William
Thomas BEAL is buried in Parker's Crossroads Cemetery. My father has
an old family bible with many BEAL names, but the first and middle
names are initials only. Birthdates are also included. One of the
names is H.S. BEAL (Possibly Harvey?) and also M.T. BEAL which we

Looking for information on Harriet A. Bledsaw. I found her on the
1870 Henderson County Tennessee census, District 17.Also in household
are Susan E.Bledsaw age 17, Mary C. Bledsaw age 14, Matilda A. age 11
Bledsaw, Amanda L.Bledsaw age 9. Head of household is believed to be
their mother, name is not legible (_essey?)age 38.Can anyone help.
Does anyone know where this family came from? Also living in
household is a Mary Renfroe age 17. All in household were born in TN.
Does anyone know the connection between the Renfroe and
Bledsoe/Bledsaw families? Harriet is found on the 1880 Henderson
County census in district 16. She is age 27 here. Also in household
are two of her sons Newton age 6 and Sam age 2. She is living next
door to W. H. Hays(Doc Henry) who is the father of 6 of her children.
She later had children Joe b. 1882, Jackson Thomas b. 1887(who took
the Hayes name), Felix b. 1890(took the Hayes name), and a daughter
Elmer D. b. 1893(took the Hayes name). After the death of Harriet A.

Does anyone know of a marriage index for TN? I am trying to find out
the location of the marriage of Nathaniel DeCalb OSBORN and Jane
BEENE. They were married in either MS or TN and I am having no luck
documenting the marriage. I would appreciate any ideas out there.
Jane was born 1810 in Franklin Co., TN. Nathaniel in TN as well. In
1834 they were living in Yalobusha, MS but I can find no marriage
record there.

Researching the ancestery of Archibald WOODS. I believe he is buried
in Barren Springs Cemetery in Henderson Co. He was born 8/16/1796 in
possibly Georgia or Virginia died 12/2/1857. I haven't a clue as to
who his wife was, but I have the names of six of his children:
Ignatius WOODS born 8/21/1821 died 4/9/1858 Henderson Co., Elendor
WOODS born about 1824, John WOODS born 12/7/1827, died 10/23/1888
buried Barren Springs Cemetery married Sarah E. Smith, Louisa WOODS
born about 1835, Mary and Susan, twins, born about 1836. Any
information will be appreciated.

SCROGGINS MORRIS, born in 1862 in Blount Co., Alabama to Solomon and

I am looking for information on the ancestors of the Flanagans that
moved to Henderson Co from Ridgeway VA (Henry Co)about 1887 or 1888.
The family was William (Bill) Perkin Flanagan & Anna John Gilly

Need info. on Clearancy GUINN, age 14, listed in HH 299, 1860
Henderson Co TN census; believe she is the "Clarissa" GUINN who about
1862 married my g-grandfather Henry T[homas?] WARD, 16, listed
across the line in Madison Co HH 1796/1830 in same census. Haven't
located marriage record. The household Clearancy (believed about
half Cherokee) is in appears to consist of two adult females
(sisters?), each with children with different surnames: Clearany
Moore, 53, with son W. V. Huggins, 30, and dau. Madena Moore, 21. And
Thany Anderson, 42, with sons Allen Whitwell, 23, J. H. Whitwell,16,
and dau. Clearancy GUINN, 14. Henry and Clearancy had several
children before moving to TX around 1875 and on to OK. Family
tradition has children born around Nashville, but unable to locate
the family there or anywhere during that time. Please e-mail me for

Looking for marriage info. (abt 1862) and 1870 info. on Henry
T[homas?] WARD, b. 1844, and Clearacy (Clarissa?) GUINN WARD, b.
1846. In 1860 Henry was in Madison Co. and Clearacy in Henderson
Co., TN---both lived right on the line close together. By 1870 they
had one daughter and three sons. Family tradition is that they
raised their children in Nashville, but have come to believe they
stayed closer to home. Believe Clearacy's parents were A. J. and
Elizabeth GUINN.

I am looking for any information on James Arthur BARR and Maudie
Pearl PILLOW BARR. I know they are buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery
in Henderson County, TN. He was born in 1881 and died in 1959 and
she was born in 1891 and died in 1971. I don't know if they lived in

I am looking for information on a Henry Clay WOODS born abt 1874 in
Tennessee. Appears he was married 3 times. 1st wife unknown. 2nd wife
was an Alice BASHAW that he married on June 24,1901 in Stone Co. AR
and 3rd wife was Ida SHORE who he married Nov. 13, 1902. Both of his
parents are listed to have been born in TN on the 1910 Stone

Looking for information on Laverne Clabe NANNIE that was a minister
at Liberty Grove Baptist Church, Jackson, TN sometime between 1910
and his death 1920. His wife was Susie DRAKE and she is buried at the
church cemetery. He had two brothers that we know of William and Lee

Searching for parents of Washington Levi LEE born abt 1825 in TN or
SC. He married Martha Emeline SHELBY 30 June 1846 in Henderson Co TN.
She was the daughter of Wade HAMPTON and Judith Burchitt SHELBY. The
family are listed on the 1850 Henderson Co Census as Levi LEE head
of household. They join a wagon train for TX and arrive in Anderson
Co TX in 1857. Levi joined the Confederate Army in 1861 and was
killed at the "7 Day Battle of Richmond" in 1862/65. Any information

My name is Jenn BOWEN. I'm of the 9th gen of BOWEN. My g-grand parents
are John BOWEN b 1870 TN, d 1910 TX. & Nellie GREEN b 1881 d?. John
BOWEN is 6th gen of the BOWEN family. There is a Robert in this line
as to who he could be? He may have been John BOWEN's brother or
dad. Nellie GREEN is of the 6th gen of SAUNDERS/SANDERS family. Some of

SAUNDERS/SANDERS family was cherokee. My grand dad Leroy BOWEN was John

Nancy (Nannie) HENNARD married Taylor THOMPSON. Their child,
Josephine, was born in Henderson County. I believe Nancy HENNARD was
the child of my gr gr grandfather, John HENNARD/HENARD who was from

Would like to contact someone who is researching the HAMLETT family
in TN. My HAMBLETT family probably came from GA to MS but I have come
across a couple of names I cannot place. I have heard from a resident
of Henderson Co, that the HAMLETT family there came from NC and have

I am looking for the parents of Marcus Lafayette DALTON. He was born
October 14, 1819 in TN and died November 8, 1870 in Palo Pinto
Co, Texas. He married Lucinda GAMBILL. She was born June 6, 1819
in Logan Co, KY and died February 8, 1900 in Palo Pinto
Co, Texas. Her parents are William GAMBILL and Sarah WARD. Marcus
Lafayette DALTON and Lucinda GAMBILL had the following children:
WILLIAM CLEO DALTON, GEORGE DALTON, JOHN DALTON, CHARLIE A. DALTON,
ROBERT S. DALTON who married MILLIE SLAUGHTER, GEORGE LEE DALTON who
married LUVINA PARALEE TENNISON. SARAH DALTON who married A. L.
Denson, MARY DALTON who married a HERRIN and JENNIE DALTON who
married a VOLENTINE. These DALTON'S are buried at either Lu-Queen

I am trying to find information about my g-grandfather John Ernest
HARWELL. He was born in Scotts Hill on April 15, 1885. He moved to
Oklahoma when he was 20. His brothers were Robert, Elzer, Rufeph,
Albert and Elvin(?). They may have had a sister named Arbie. I have

I am looking for the descendants of George H. WEBB, born Carroll Co,
TN and Mary Jane WINBERRY. They lived in Henderson Co, near Juno
until about 1900. Some of the family may have moved to Madison
County near Pinson. Also looking for info about David Taylor WEBB

Tennessee BARR, and had two daughters. He was a mail carrier who

Jane MEALS. He was born 1825 in TN and died on February 26, 1864 as a
Civil War prisoner in the Danville, VA Rebel Hospital. She was born
on January 29, 1829 in Alabama, died August 7, 1884 in Henderson
County, TN and buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery there. (Believe her
parents were Louis MEALS/b 1788, d 1856, and Mary "Polly" WEAVER/b
1793, d 1839). John and Martha's children were James Gray DOUGLAS,

Am searching for info on the parents & siblings of John A. AUTRY,
born 1824 in TN or NC. In the 1840s & 1850s he was living in the
Clarksburg, Westport, Yuma area of Carroll Co., TN. I don't know

Searching for James Franklin JACKSON born abt 1829 in Virginia. He
appears in 1850 Henderson Co census as age 22, married to Mary Ann,
age 20. By 1860 census they are living in Marion County, Arkansas
and have a daughter, Louzany, shown in census as age 11. No other
info on their family or life in Tennessee known at this time. Can

I am looking for James G MORRIS b1816 d around 1860 married to
Mahala BENSON b 1824? d around 1860, she being the dau. of Levin BENSON. I
think James is the son of a Harvey MORRIS b around 1790 d ukn. he being the
son of Aaron MORRIS from New Bern NC. Harvey came to Carrol Co. Tn in 1830
on a wagon train from New Bern. They settled in Shiloh Tn (not the
Shiloh battlefield). All of the Morrises and Bensons lived in Henderson Co.
Tn., around Centerpoint. All the Bensons, except Mahala are buried in
Barren Springs Cem. James and Mahala had the following children, and they were all born in Tn:

had two dau's named Sarah Jane and Hannah. In the 1870 census they

I am a soldier and journalist currently stationed in Wuerzburg, GE,
who has recently begun doing research on my family history. I have
found that there is a large concentration of STOCKARDs located in
Wayne County, Tennessee. I have uncles by the names of, Howard
STOCKARD (TN), and Donald STOCKARD (UT), and my father is Kenneth
STOCKARD, originally from Wayne County. My late paternal grandparents
were Herman STOCKARD and ("Willie") Ruth STOCKARD. I don't know many
of my family past that, but I'd like to. We used to have reunions in

We are searching for information about Washington Levi LEE
who was married 24 June 1844 in Henderson Co TN. to Martha Emeline
SHELBY. Her parents were Wade Hampton SHELBY and Judith MCCALUM.
Washington Levi is listed as Levi LEE on 1850 Henderson Co Census.
He moved the family to Anderson Co TX abt 1857. He joined the
Confederate army in 1862 and was killed somewhere in VA. Is there
anyone who has information about the parents of Levi LEE and Wade

I am also reseaching the CARYs from Henderson Co. My
grandfather was Locy Lenard CARY (b. 1909) and his father was George
D. CARY (b. 1891). Locy's mother was Jene or poss Jane. I found them
in the 1910 census and having trouble locating anything else on
George D. CARY.
I have a print out from somewhere showing that Thomas CARY was
George's father and George had 4 siblings: Wesley, Nettie,
Cora, Gray. I don't know where it came from for I print everything
I find on the CARYs. I will not use it unless I have proof that
it is him for sure.
