very sick and weak of body but perfect sense..To my
wife Sarah Mays, my home plantation & my whole estate, during life or
widowhood, & at her death or marriage, to be divided as follows: To my son
Drury Mays, the son of Sarah-my platation, including
225 acres at the lower end of tract. To son Beverly Mays, the son of Sarah
Mays-the remainder of my home tract. I wish my whole Estate to be kept together
until my youngest child, Johannah, the daughter of
Sarah, arrives at age 21, to have a maintenance out of the whole estate. To my
son William Mays-a ewe lamb whith what I (he) has
before received from me.
I wish that my tract of
land called NJyeds be equally divided to make 2

Patrick Counties of Virginia, has definitely been traced back to Charles Doson of Old Rappanhannock
County, Virginia and it seems quite probable that all of the early Dodson
families of this section of Virginia were descendants of this Charles Dodson.

Anne had remarried by 3
July 1706, on which date John Hill and wife, executrix of the last Will and
Testament of Charles Dodson, dec'd petitioned the
court for an appraisment of the estate. the court
ordered John Rankin, William Smoote, John Mills and
Richard White, or any three of them, to meet at the house of John Hil and appraise and inventory the estate and report to the
next court. Thomas Dodson brought an action in court "against John Hill
marrying the Executirx of Charles Dodson". The
action was dismissed byt the court on 3 april 1707, "the plaintiff not prosecuting". The
reason for this court action was not explained.
