Och's Memorial Cemetery

The Och's Memorial cemetery is located eight blocks east of Market St. and is in front of the Chattanooga High School on 5th Street. This cemetery was started in 1853. It was called the Hebrew Benevolence Association for relief for jewish emegrants. At that time there was about 20 or 25 jews here who formed a church congregation which was later called Och's Memorial. The oldest grave is that of Benjamin Griel.
