Thomas ==================================================================== Tidence Lane Graveyard Location: Located north of Whitesburg, Tennessee on the Whitesburg Pike. It was copied March 19, 1938 by Margaret Helms Richardson and she stated the farm was owned by T. C. Hayes but was known as the Garrett Lane Farm. There are six graves maried with fieldstones. Tidence lane was born Aug 31, 1724 and died Jan 30, 1806. He was a pioneer Baptist preacher. He organized and became the first pastor of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church in 1779. He became pastor of Bent Creek Baptist Church which was organized Jun 12, 1785. He was son of Richard and Sarah Lane and was born in Maryland near Baltimore. He married Esther Bibbin (or Bibber) on May 9, 1743. They had seven sons and two daughters. (Source: JOURNEY INTO CENTURY THREE, Volume One, by Glenn Alfred Toomey, pages 2, 3, 11.
