Libraries with Genealogical Resources

There are small libraries in each community of Grundy County.
The Tracy City Public Library, located on Main Street in the City Hall, probably has the best historical collection. The address is P.O. Box 1419, Tracy City, TN, 37387. It is open Monday and Wednesday from 12:00 - 4:30 and on Friday from 12:00 - 5:00. The telephone number is (615) 592-9714.

The Tennessee State Library and Archives holds the largest collection of Grundy County and Tennessee genealogical material available. There you can see microfilm copies of the Grundy County records which burned when the courthouse was destroyed, as well as the census records and nearly all the books published about Grundy County. The Grundy County Heritage Book has been published and is currently available for $72.00 postpaid. It is made up of a general county history, family histories, military information from veterans, and is fully indexed - 512 pages.

Genealogical and Historical Societies

The Grundy County Historical Society issues a newsletter and supports the development of a research collection housed at the Tracy City Public Library.
