Seeking info on Joseph TATE
who was the son of Major James TATE.Major TATE died in Grundy Co in
1849. Per the estate settlement ofMajor James TATE, Joseph had
pre-deceased his father and had left heirs. These heirs were not
named. I have found some old deeds recorded in Dade County GA (the
first one dated 6 August 1853) that name the following as heirs of
Joseph TATE, deceased of Grundy Co TN: James L. TATE (Lincoln Co TN);
William J.TATE (Hopkins Co KY); John G. TATE and Joseph TATE. The
witnesses of the signatures of James L., John G., and Joseph TATE were
John GROSS and his wife, Sarah GROSS. If you can help with any

The 1860 Grundy
County Census has both my greatgreatgrandparents and my
greatgreatgreatgrandparents living in the county. My GGgrandparents
were George Stubblefield CAMPBELL and Mary Ann DAVIS. The were married
in Grundy County on October 7,1853. Her parents were James DAVIS,Jr.
and Betty Ann McAFEE. They are all shown living in District 6 of
Grundy County in the 1860 census. I would appreciate any information
on these families or the communities included inDistrict 6.

I am looking for any info
for Melissa PHIPPS. All I know is that she was born about 1830 and
married Thomas ELLIS in Montgomery Co.TN in 1851. Census says she was
born in TN. I think her mother's name is Susan and maybe a brother
named J.L. She died about 1865-66. She had a son named James
Ellis(1854) and daughters named MarySusan-1858(Susanne), Salina-1861,

In my research of my
Cherokee heritage, and from talking to people inthe South, I often
come across those whose families who are from the South who claim and
have been told by their grandparents, etc... thatthey are "Blackfoot"
but I can't find any evidence that that Tribe was ever in this part of
the country. I have been given a few explainations as to possible
origins. If you have an answer, or have been told you are of
"Blackfoot origins" yet your family was never from the Plains area,

My father in law was Henry
Earett BESS Sr. he died Jan.8, 1998 his father was Harvey BESS who
died April 1985. His wife was Ida Bell BESS her maiden name was
WHITMAN I think her mother was married to John WHITMAN. I can't find
any thing on her at all not even a death SSDI. If anyone knows about

Is anyone researching the BROWN family in Grundy
Co. or McMinnville,Warren Co., Tennessee? I have a genealogy that was
worked on during the late 1980s and early 1990. I am decended from
Ledden BROWN. Ledden BROWN was married twice; first to Louisa Arena
CROSSLAND and then to Susan Jane VAN HOOSER (ESKEW). Ledden BROWN's
parents were Thomas "Tommy" BROWN and Mary MORTON. My g-grandfather
was John Daniel BROWN, b. Oct. 2, 1852, Grundy Co., Tennessee. He
married Emma Jane HUDSON on Feb. 20, 1871 in Grundy County, Tennessee.
Emma Jane HUDSON was born April 15, 1856 in Tennessee and died August
20, 1917 in Coleman Co., TX. Have data to share, and welcome

research on my SPEEGLE ancestry. If any oneout there has some tips,

Monteagle! (now in GA) I have just traced it as far back as my
