HUNTER, TRIMUE, PATTON
Recently learned that my g.mother may have been part Cherokee. Her father
was James Grimes PATTON, b. Coffee Co, TN, 1818; son of Rachel JARRETT and
Daniel PATTON. Her mother was Mary Caroline HUNTER, b. Grundy Co, TN, in
1826. Hunters lived near Pelham
. Mary HUNTER's mother was Mary TRIMUE, her father's first name may have
been Rufus. Mary Caroline Hunter PATTON had some Indian physical
characteristics. Her daughter, my g-mother, was Susie Alice PATTON
(BASSETT), who could count in an Indian language - possibly Cherokee. PATTONs were Scots-Irish and had no Indian heritage
, so HUNTER and/or TRIMUE families may have been part-Cherokee. JARRETT
is also found
among the Cherokee. Rachel JARRETT's mother was a MOYERS; father was
Daniel JARRETT. Have lots of PATTON info; will share. Need more HUNTER and
