According to Mr. Harold England the caretaker of the cemetery history says that the four Cooley’s that died in 1898 had a plague of some kind and all died within months and days of each other. They were relative newcomers to the area.
Mary Rebecca Harris Corlew donated the land for the cemetery. According to Mr. England this was the burial ground of the Curlews’ and Harris’. His wife was a Corlew and they tended it together until her death in 1995. The cemetery is well maintained.
