In 1820 James Daniel, born Jan 4, 1796 came to the Yellow Creek Valley to settle. The spot he chose was near the mouth of Cedar Creek which subsequently became known as Daniels Mill... later becoming Danielville. Immediately after the Civil War (1870-1885) Jessee Daniel engaged in merchandising in his country store at Danielsville. In the rear of the store was located a post office that served patrons within a mile and a half radius.Wm Nesbitts grandparents lived across Yellow Ck from Danielsville, received their mail from the Danielville post office. In those days post offices were located in communities about every two miles. The next office down the creek (north) from Danielsville was Omega, at the Jim Skelton place. The nearest office south of Danielsville was Cave Mills (Ruskin). No evidence exist of it now. RETURN to Home Page
