Webb Families of DeKalb County, Tennessee, and 23 Related Families, by Thomas G. Webb, will be available about December 12 in a softcover edition. By permission of the Author, Justin Potter Library of Smithville, in cooperation with the DeKalb County Genealogical Association, has published this edition of the Webb book. Only one hundred copies are available now; they can be purchased at the library for $45 per copy, or by U.S. Mail for $50 from Justin Potter Library, 101 South First Street, Smithville, TN 37166. If you missed the first printing, this is your opportunity to obtain a copy.

The book is exactly the same as the first edition except that it has a soft cover rather than a hard cover. It contains all lthe same information, pictures, and families. The main families covered are Webb, Bethel, Cantrell, Colvert, Fuson, Gribble, Hicks, Jaco, Judkins, Magness, Mangum, Moser, Parker, Potter, Redmon, Snow, Turner, and Weedon families, along with the Farmer and Foushee families of Virgina, the Gray, George, and Sageley families of Cannon County, Tennessee, and the nathaniel Miller family of Rutherford Co., Tn. Other families included are Patterson, Young, Loring, Byars, Evins, Parish, Davis, Reeder, Vanhooser, Ray, Odom, Farler, Braswell, Jacobs, Sandlin, Smithson, and More.

The book has 696 pages printed on acid-free archival paper, and includes numerous old photographs. The complete first-name indes contains more than 20,000 names. This family history is more than just a listing of names and dates. It contains many narrative sections which tell about our ancestors and how they lived, what problems the faced, and such details as what furniture they had, how many hogs and horses they owned, and how many pounds of butter they made.

More than 50 years have been spent in research for this volume, and several families have been traced to the 1600s and earlier. Complete references are given to the fully documented sources.
