One lone grave marker stands alone on a beautiful hill on the property that my GGG grandfather, John Merrit, once owned. Thus there is a good possibility that other Merritt ancestors are also buried there. The lone marker is four sided with the followin
g inscriptions:
Directions: Highway 56 north from Smithville to Silver point. Cross railroad tracts and take road to the left, do not get on I-40. Go 5-6 miles and pass the Wolf Creek Baptist Church and after you go over the bridge, turn left (Hellum Hollow Road ). Take 1st road on the left (Propular Flat Road). Go up the hill. Go until you see a farm on the right side called "Somerset Farms". The gate to the right is the entrance to the cemetery.
William Hanley Merritt and Sarah Francis Johnson are my GG grandparents and are buried at Mt. Holly Cemetery. Their graves were moved to Mt. Holly during the Center Hill Lake Dam Project.
