Third Quarter, 1999
I found a man named Elisha MCGINNIS who served in the Confederacy
from Dekalb Co. I would like to connect with anyone that is
researching this man. My great-great grandfather was also named
Elisha MCGINNIS. I am hoping to find out they are related as I can
not find my Elisha's parents.

Desparately trying to find info on my gr-gr-grandmother-Vonie EMORY.
She married Shadrack Clemmons Jan. 4, 1873, in Dekalb Co. Shadrack
CLEMMONS died about 1878. Vonie then married Harry KELLY, in 1880,
and resided in Smith Co. Vonie had one known brother, David EMORY,
who married D.E.T. DENNIS, in about 1865, in Dekalb Co. Vonie KELLY
died about 1906, in Smith Co. Her children were; John CLEMMONS and
Monie CLEMMONS by Shadrack CLEMMONS, Spence KELLY and Mary KELLY by
Harry KELLY. I have absolutely no further info on the EMORY
family!!! Any help will be extremely appreciated!

I am looking for parents and siblings of Archer Coleman ROBINSON. He
was born 5 miles from Alexandria in Smith (now DeKalb) county 8
Dec1825. He was married 12 May 1849 to Martha REVEL in Shelby county.
In 1850 census they were in Fayette county. family 1157, Archibald
Robertson 25, Martha 20, and Fanning Robertson 13. Martha died 23
June 1858. A C remarried in Colliersville 2 Feb 1860 to Marian V
Kinnie. . A C served in Confederate army, I assume from TN, could
be AR. He moved to VanBuren, now Cleburne county AR, and later to Del
Rio TX where he died in 1907. Any information aabout Robinson or
Revel appreciated. Glad to share what I have.

Micajah T. Bennett was "murdered almost on his own threshold by
person or persons unknown" on August 12, 1882. In the June 24, 1889
Liberty Herald, "Pierce Kerley was found guilty in Liberty, DeKalb
County of murder of Bennett". Can anyone help me out on this?
Micajah is my gg grandfather, and I would love to know the story.
I'm not sure if the Kerley/Bennett murder was Micajah's murder - but
surely somewhere there must be a record. I'm in Montana and on-site
search is impossible. Was this murder in DeKalb County or in Wilson
County where I believe Micajah was living? Why was the trial in
DeKalb County? What were the results of the granted retrial? Was
there a newspaper with now-existing records in operation at the time?

I am looking for information on my great great-grandparents,
Sebastian Williams and Paralee Pistole Williams. All I know of
Sebastian is that he was born in Ohio about 1820 and shows up first
on the 1850 census for Wilson County, TN. On 15 Dec 1862, Sebastian
and Paralee were married in DeKalb County, TN. I do not know who
Sebastian's parents were or of any siblings. Paralee's parents were
Pleasant Pistole and Arrena Barrett born about 1811 and 1815,
respectively.
My great grandfather, Lafayette (Fate) Sadler was married to Martha
Williams, Sebastian and Paralee's daughter. Martha (1871-1928) and
Fate (1867-1930) are buried in the Salem Baptist Church cemetary in
Liberty, TN.
I have no idea what happened to Sebastian and Paralee and would love
to know if anyone out there might have any info on them.

Who are Sarah NICHOLAS, b. 1801 in VA, and Elender C. NICHOLAS, b.
1837 in Tennessee? They appear to be mother and daughter and were
enumerated on the 1850 Dekalb Co. census in the household of William
W. and Rebecca FOSTER (nee PARSLEY). Elender NICHOLAS married Richard
PARSLEY on October 23, 1854, so it seems unlikely they are related to
the PARSLEYS. Could Sarah NICHOLAS be William's sister?

I am looking for a connection on Amanda Carder. She married Riley
McClure in Dekalb county in 1867. She was 1\2 Cherokee.I am not sure

Looking for any information for the BIRLEW family in Dekalb Co., TN.
until about 1853. (The name is usually found spelled BALLEW/BELLEW in
the records).
Robert Birlew is found on the 1850 Temperance Hill, Dekalb Co., TN.
census, with his wife, Tabitha (Boyd/Robins). They left TN. about
1853 and relocated to Missouri.
Robert Birlew had a brother, John Birlew, who married Milbrey
(Robinson/Robertson) about 1838 in Smith Co., TN. John, Milbrey &
family are found living in Christian Co., KY. in the 1850 census.
Robert & John Birlew's mother, Jane Everett, born 1790 in KY. was
living in the household. She had been widowed about 1830 & remarried
to a Mr. Everett. John, Milbrey, & children, as well as Jane
Everett, also relocated to Missouri in 1853.

I'm searching for an ABRAM ADAMS, he was born in Halifax County, VA
and must have migrated to DeKalb County, TN. He married a Nancy
Hancock, daughter of an Alford Hancock. They were the parents of
eight children: William Adams, Peter Adams, Jacob Adams 13-05-1815,
Hannah Leann Adams b. 22-06-1819, Mary W. Adams, Susan Jane Adams,
Sarah Adams, and Wells W. Adams. All of the children were born in
DeKalb County. I'm also interested in Nancy Hancock and her parents

County, TN. I believe James F. CROOK might be my gr-gr-grandfather.

Does anyone have information on a STEPHEN PETTY of SMITH
CO.,TENN,then later moved to DEKALB CO.,TENN.The year was probably
1876 or later.His first wife was MARY JANE WOOD,and the second spouse
name was,MARY A. ALLEN.STEPHEN and his wife's raised all their
children in DEKALB CO.,TENN.They married in the

Looking for information on children of Ambrose Hendren / Nancy
Mitchell,beleived to have moved to Dekalb Co,Tenn in early 1829,we
know of only Susan HENDREN to date,Ambrose & Nancy are beleived to
