on GILL and DAVIS families.Samuel GILL married Malinda DAVIS in White
Co.12 July 1838. Believed they resided in DeKalb Co.Samuel may have
been son of Henry, Henry's sister may have been Jane Jennie GILL who
married HarrelBYARS. This large family of BYARS resided in
McMinnvilleWarren Co. But, I need more info on GILL/DAVIS
lines.

I have reason to believe that James H. Watson lived
in DeKalb Countybefore he enlisted at Murfreesboro on February 22,
1863. He servedin the 5th Calvary Co. I. He was born in Cabarrus
County, N.C. Infiling his pension papers, he lists DeKalb County.
I have no ideawhen he may have came to DeKalb County. He was 27 when
he listed, soI assume he was born in 1836. I do not know who he
married or when. If there is anything you can find, I would greatly
appreciate it, orany suggestions you have on where to go from this

Looking for information
leading to the FORD family I seek! The onlyinformation I have at
present are from Census records, tombstones andlittle else. James W.
FORD married Jemima M. (Beckie) TODD in CannonCounty TN in 1865. They
had the following children by the 1870 Censusin Woodbury, Cannon Co.
TN: William J. 4, and James T. 2Other information states value of
real estate owned is $400 and Valueof personal property is $700.In
1880 Census this family is listed in Grundy Co. District #3.William J
is now 14; James T. 12; Hiram 8; Izora Billey F. 4; andJohn 2. All
censuses list TN as birthplace for all!Would like to find information
on James W. FORD's parents andsiblings. I noticed there are several
Ford's in DeKalb, wondered ifthere is a connection there. Also,
Mathew B. Ford has a James abouthis age in the 1850 and 1860 census
in Coffee county...So, I amlooking all over Middle TN!! Seem to have
an orphan family...lookingfor our roots and a place to call

My grandmother was "Glady Martin", I've been
told that her motherShirley Chumbly or Chumley or chumly was Cherokee
Indian. I don'tthink she was full blooded Cherokee. I think one of
her parents werethough, because of the name she carries, it doesn't
sound anythinglike Indian to me...whatever information you can find,
I'd be glad tohave. Gladys Martin married John Carroll Lewis, and

Sophia BURKS married James W. Robinson, who died of smallpox while
serving in the Civil War. James W. Robinson is supposed to have been
buried, (but I'm not certain) in the Nashville's Veteran's Cemetary.

William A Parker born about 1804 Married Matilda Parker wh was born

Looking for the ancestors of Thomas Daniel BURTON born 1814. Believe
his parents were W. H. Burton and Nancy WOODSIDE. Her father was
John S. Woodside and W. H. Burton's father was Ebenezer Burton born
ca. 1750. All were in Liberty, De Kalb Co. but where did they come
from?

12-1850 in Smith Co Tn. In 1860 census located this family in Dekalb
Co Tn. Their children : Ben W BUTLER b 1851, Lucy J BUTLER b 1855,

I have just begun my research on the FOSTER family. I know this
family lived in Smithville Dekalb Co. TN.
Joe FOSTER born 9 April 1882 and died Dec. 1963 in Dekalb Co. TN
married one Nora GRAHAM died abt. 1912. They had five children:
1.Kelly FOSTER b. 22 May 1901 and died 21 March 1994 married Martha
Elizabeth FARR
2. Henry FOSTER
3. Matt (Matthew?)FOSTER
4. Claude FOSTER
5. Eline FOSTER
Kelly FOSTER moved to Blount Co. TN and all other brothers and
sisters followed except for Claude who stayed in Dekalb Co. He had a
daughter or grand daughter named Juanita.
After Nora GRAHAM FOSTER passed away Joe FOSTER married again and
fathered 8 more children. At this time I do not have her name or the
names of their children.
Anyone with knowledge of this linage,please respond to this post.

Searching for Docton STRICKLAND. He was married to Millie, UNK last
name. Docton was born in Tn, Millie in NC. Their children were John
T., Wiliam C., Mary A., and America A. all born in Tn. Docton can
be found on the 1830 Warren Co., Tn census and on the 1850 DeKalb
Co., Tn. census. Docton does not show up on the 1860 census', but
the children do, in DeKalb Co.

Andrew MCDOWEL/MCDOLE is listed in the 1820 & 1830 census as a
resident of White County, then in the 1839 tax list as living in
District 8 in DeKalb County. He's still there in 1840. From
overlapping census records I calculate his birth as being between
1800 and 1804. Does anyone know where he went before the 1850
census? That one could provide me with valuable information. He
lives near Jane McDole and John McDole in the 1840 census. He's not
very far from Curtis and Luke MCDOWEL in 1840, but I have never seen
anyone connect the two families together. Andrew's name is spelled
"MCDOLE" on more than one occasion. Any ideas??

Hester Ann THOMPSON (b. 1820) married John MCDOWEL (born ca 1820)
about 1838. They are listed in the 1840 census living near Andrew
MCDOLE (b. between 1800 & 1804) & Jane MCDOLE. Near them lives
"Asac" THOMPSON who is between 20 & 30 years old. Hester Ann
probably had a sister Nancy who married Nathan BOZARTH. Hester is
living with Nathan and Nancy in the 1850 census. Only now they are in
Missouri, and John is deceased. I am descended from John's daughter
Nancy Ann. Does anyone see any connections?

Mary 6, Lorrence ? 18 Conner. Does anyone have any information about

I am interested in any information on Biggs who lived in Dekalb Co.
My g-grandmother was Martha Biggs(born 1856) who married James Melton
in Dekalb Co. in 1883. I believe her sister was Lucy Biggs who
married Robert Raymon (buried in the old Cantrell cemetary). There
were also a David Biggs who married Mary Anderson in 1891 and James
Biggs who married Martha Young in 1895. I know there were Biggs
families in Dekalb Co. as late as the 1930's, probably later because
my fathers family visited with them. I am trying to figure out who
Martha Biggs family was.

I am researching the family of James Horace SMITH of Dekalb Co. His
father's name was Newby SMITH. I don't know if this was his nickname
or his birth name. James Horace SMITH married a VANDERPOOL. Her
first name may have been Nancy. Their children were Leeoma SMITH
and Alton SMITH. James remarried and had 2 sons after Nancy died. I
would love to find out information about the SMITHS, VANDERPOOLS, or
the TRAMELS/TRAMMELS of Dekalb Co.
