The following advertisement was found in The Knoxville Gazette July 5 1802

The Subscriber wishes to inform the Public

that he has opened a

HOUSE OF ENTERTAINMENT

In NEWPORT, TENNESSEE

on the direct road from Warm Springs, N.C.

to Knoxville

Gentlemen travelers and Others who may think Proper

to call on him may rest assured that every effort

will be used to satisfy.

They will find his House always Provided with

Every kind of refreshment the Country can afford

And his Stables shall be supplied with Provender for Horses.
