Would like to share info with persons researching the James MURRAY and Sarah BIRDWELL family of Jackson/Clay Counties, Tennessee. James and Sarah were married in Washington County, Tennessee, on 20 August, 1840. They appear to have moved to and from Monroe County, Kentucky, Jackson County, Tennessee, and Clay County, Tennessee areas...Last seen on the 1870 Monroe County, Kentucky Census, James MURRAY is not present, appearing to have died. Does anyone have information on this family? Sarah was a daughter of Alexander BIRDWELL and Elizabeth COPASS, of Monroe County, Kentucky, near Old Mulkey Meeting House. Sam D. I am searching for information about my great-grandparents, James B. (Bennett) JACKSON and Sarah Jane CHERRY. Jim JACKSON was b. 10 Aug 1847, in TN, presumably, Overton Co. and d. 08 Dec 1923 in Oregon Co., MO. Sarah Jane CHERRY was b. 10 Sep 1854, in TN, presumably, Overton Co. and d. 23 Feb 1926 in Oregon Co., MO. The Jacksons were members of the Baptist Church. It is probable that their marriage was performed by a Baptist preacher. According to the JACKSON family Bible, Jim (J.B.) and Jane JACKSON married in Clay Co., TN, on 04 Nov 1873. According to the family Bible and obituaries from Oregon Co., MO, William Bennett JACKSON b. 28 Jul 1874, Florence JACKSON b. 20 Jan 1876, Violett JACKSON b. 28 Feb 1879, Muce Dora JACKSON b. 22 Feb 1881, and John JACKSON b. 29 Jan 1884 were all born in Clay Co., TN. This JACKSON family left TN in 1886. They arrived in Oregon Co., MO in 1886 or early 1887. Their son Lee JACKSON was b. 24 Sep 1886 in KY. Remaining children Clyde JACKSON, Mary JACKSON, Alta JACKSON, and Dona JACKSON were b. in MO. To date a search for census information or a marriage record has been fruitless. Any verification that these JACKSONS were in Overton, Jackson, or Clay Co., TN would be greatly appreciated. (It is said that J.B. JACKSON had a sister named Susan (Susie) JACKSON who remained in TN.) Any information related to census, marriage, land deeds would be helpful!
