Submitted by Carles Morgan

Levi Jackson first served with the Confederate Army by enlisting in 25th Tennessee Infantry Company K. His older brother, James Alexander, also enlisted but was killed during the battle of Stone's River Decemeber 1862. During the spring of 1864, Levi deserted and went home.

He later joined up the 4th Mounted Infantry Company K (USA) along with his younger brother, Eli Jackson. Both completed their Civil War service with this unit.
