Abstract of Information available in the Service Records:
Served as a wagoneer under Captain A. Hoals Wilson. Captured by troops of
General Nathan Bedford Forrest near Athens, Alabama on/about Sep 24, 1964.
Held in Cahaba prison camp near Selma, Alabama. Released Mar 14, 1865 and
paroled at Vicksburg, Mississippi on/about Apr 21, 1865. Was aboard the
steamboat Sultana on the Mississippi River when it exploded at approximately
2:00 a.m. on Apr 27, 1865. Sent on to Camp Chase, Ohio (near Columbus) after
the disaster. Transferred to Nashville, Tennessee on May 17, 1865 and was
mustered out on Jun 10, 1865.
