Soldier is: Hugh Douglas Dyke, Private in Company C of Ninth Regiment of Tennessee Cavalry USA. He was born on September 29, 1835 at Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee. He is a son of John Dyke and Catherine Frazier, both natives of Tennessee.

John Dyke was born sometime between about 1800 and 1810. He died about December of 1838. Catherine Frazier was born about 1814. John Dyke married Catherine Frazier on December 31, 1829 in Greene County, Tennessee. After John Dyke died (about December of 1838), Catherine (Frazier) Dyke married Valentine S. Nichols. They were married on May 22, 1841 in Greene County, Tennessee.

Hugh Douglas Dyke married Hannah Jane Smith on June 23, 1858 in Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee. Hannah Jane Smith is a daughter of George W. Smith and Margaret Melissa Fink. George W. Smith was born about 1812 in Tennessee and Margaret Melissa Fink was born on September 3, 1810 at Kendrick Creek, Sullivan County, Tennessee. Hannah Jane Smith was born on June 13, 1837 in Greene County, Tennessee. Hannah Jane (Smith) Dyke died on December 9, 1929 at Williams, Colusa County, California. She was buried at Williams Cemetery, Williams, California on December 11, 1929. Hugh Douglas Dyke died at Williams, Colusa County, California on December 2, 1931. He was buried on December 4, 1931 at Williams Cemetery, Williams, California.
