In the State of Tennessee and who was a servant from the State of Tennessee in the war between the United States and the Confederate States do herby apply for aid under the Act of the General Assembly of Tennessee 1921. And I do solemnly swear that I was with John Reeves, Tom New and John New n the service of the Confederate States, and that by reason of indigence I am now entitled to receive, the benefit of this Act. I further swear that I do not hold any National, State, or county office, nor do I receive aid or pension from any other State, or from the United States. I do further solemnly swear that the answers given to following questions are true:

Further made oath to the following facts touching the applicants service in the
Confederate Army
State here what witnesses know of their own knowledge.
I Knew James Reeves left Camp Trousdale with us and remained until his master John Reeves was killed at Cedar Run---He remained in the army there with John New and Tom New and Ray Word, and Bill Word. He remained in the army for sometime but John New was killed & his Mistress sent for him & he returned home--He was taken by john Blackburn but was given his liberty on the promise that he would remain with Mrs. Reeves and not go back to the army.

*John H. Fite states he knew James Reeves was in our regiment for some time but don’t know when he left but knows it was after John Reeves was killed.
