Fell at Fredericksburg on 13th December, Lieutenant C. N. McGuire. He died a patriot and he died at his post. Another bright star from out of the Confederate Army has gone out forever. Another brave company hears a sigh and brushes off a starling tear since their gallant officer is no more. Another band of patriot brothers has been broken by death\'s icy touch. Another mother\'s heart bleeds for her darling boy. Sisters behold the golden bowl is broken. The silver cord is loosed and your brother is gone, gone forever. We cannot say weep no more, for he was a noble brother, the pride and boast of the family, loved and respected by all who knew him. On the bloody battlefield, he found his last resting place. He died while in his glorious youth with everything to enrich and adorn life, with genius and friendship. He died in the medium of manhood leaving behind a sweet memory to fall like the mellow rays of the setting sun tenderly yet soberly on the souls of those he left behind. He died not as those without hope. What a glorious day for the angels and arch angels was this 13th December. What rapturous concert of hallelujahs is among the seraphim, when all exclaimed another pilgrim has come to join the happy band at Jehovah\'s right hand. Oh, could we have seen the countenances of these happy angels on this day, what a peace! What a joy! What a heavenly radiance would have been reflected there! For how could they fail to be supremely happy with \"a God to glorify?\" Then mother, sisters, brothers be cheerin\', be happy. Strive to meet your Colonel beside the still waters of the harvest home. LPG *************************************** submitters note; CN was born June 12, 1839, Lincoln Co., TN.
