On Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock at the home of his son on Mr. George Wagnon's place,near Bostwick,death claimed Mr. William F.Gregg. Mr. Gregg,a Virgian by birth, was for many years a citizen of the state,living in Walton and Morgan county. He was a Confederate soilder and it is said of him that in the war between the states he displayed the truest bravery-that he never suffered the interests of the cause to be reproached by any act of his. Some 30 years ago, he united with Union Chapel Methodist Church and to that church he remaind loyal and true to the end of his pilgramige. He was 85 years of age March 10th 1917. Mr Gregg was twice married,his first wife was Mrs.Mary Herndon. Out of this union were two children,Joe and David,both of whom survive. His last wife to whom he was married some 40 years ago,and who survives him,was Miss Nancy Malcolm. By her God blessed him with a number of children and the folloeing survive him: J.M.Gregg,Walter Gregg, D.R.Greggof North Carolina,W.D.Gregg of Athens,T.M.Gregg of Morgan County and Mrs. Hattie Gilbert of Dublin Georgia. The funeral service,was conducted by the editor of The News,Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at Braswell Baptist Church in the presence of a large company of sorrowing relatives and friends.The internment took place in the Braswell Church cemetary. The News extends to the bereaved loved ons the tenderest sympathy.
