THE WAR IN TENNESSEE.

DEFEAT OF THE REBELS AT LEXINGTON.

Capture of Col. Campbell and Two Pieces of Artillery.

MEMPHIS Tuesday, July 28

The forces sent out under Col. HATCH to look after the rebel troops enforcing the conscription in West Tennessee, had a fight at Lexington, routing the rebels and capturing Col. CAMPBELL, of the Twenty-third Tennessee, two Lieutenants, twenty-five privates and two cannon. Col. CAMPBELL was en route from Chattanooga to join Gen. PILLOW, who is understood to be near Paris, Ky.

Col. S. WEL * * * * * * * * , who had been captured by the rebels, was recaptured by our forces.

The rebel forces under Gen. RODDY are still on Bear Creek.

The rebels under FOREST, BIFFLES, NEWCOMB and WILSON are operating under the command of Gen. PILLOW.

Gen. DODGE is watching all these parties, and will soon make West Tennessee too hot too hold them.
