Personal Information about the Veteran (Not contained in the CMSR):
John Daniel Perdue was the eldest son of Daniel and Matilda Mattox Perdue. He
was born in Sumner Co., TN 10 Dec 1842 and died 24 Jan 1921. He married
Missouri Ann Mayes in Sumner Co., TN the 5th of January 1864. Family tradition
is that Missouri Ann Mayes rode to where John Perdue was being held prisoner
and secured his release. Both are buried Maple Hill Cemetery in Portland,
Tennessee.
