Abstract of Information available in the Service Records:
Captured at Petersburg, VA, June 17, 1864. Sent to Point Lookout, MD prison and then to Elmira Prison in New York arriving on July 30, 1864. Paroled at Elmira, NY on February 25,1865 and sent to James River for exchange. Patient in General Hospital No. 9 in Richmond and Chimborazo Hospital. Furloughed March 19, 1865 for 30 days.
Personal Information about the Veteran (Not contained in the CMSR):
Born in 1836 in White County, Tennessee. Married Catherine Blankenship in 1856 in Illinois where he had moved. She died of TB and he returned to Tennessee in 1860 with two children. During the war he married Nancy Tallent from White County. After the war moved to Putnam County and about 1890 moved to Marshall, Arkansas. Died in 1915 in Arkansas and is buried there.
