Illinois, states, " I have the honor forthwith a list of prisoners of war brought to this camp by Colonel P. B. Hawkins 11th Kentucky Volunteers –26 A. A. G. F February 11, 1863. Colonel F. B. Hawkins was detailed to take charge of prisoners of war taken at Stone’s River by S. F. G. No. 4 Department of the Cumberland dated Murfreesboro, Tennessee, January 7, 1863 and he reported his arrival at Chicago with the prisoners in a letter dated January 27, 1863. R & P 785341.
Paroled on March 30, 1863 at Camp Douglas, Illinois and sent on April 4, 1863 to Point City, Virginia for exchange with 63 prisoners of war under the escort of Lt. Colonel E. S. Stowell
*Roll of prisoners shows on April 10, 1863 under and escort of the 9th Vermont Infantry he was received and exchanged with 520 Confederate prisoners of war and one Negro boy stated to be a prisoner of war.
