I am trying to find a death date and the burial place of William B. C. Smith. He was born 12 December 1882. His parents were James L. Smith and his first wife Eveline/Elva Campbell Smith. His mother is buried in the George Mottern Cemetery, Turkeytown. His father and stepmother are buried at Colbaugh Cemetery, Elizabethton. There are
unmarked graves near the graves of both of his parents.
He married Agnes Large in Elizabethton TN, 4 August 1907. He died between 1920 and 1925.
William B. C. (I have been told he was called Will) and Agnes Large Smith were the parents of three children:
Marshall Smith, New York.
Worley Smith of Toms River, New Jersey
Florence Farrington, Clearwater Florida.
The address is from their mother's obituary notice.
I have a copy of an inscription from a military dog tag that reads:
Corp. W.B.C. Smtih Co.G 3, RD, Inf N.G. TENN on one side the other side reads: Elizabethton TENN. I think this is from his service either in the Spanish American War or World War I.
Thank you.

According to the will of Isaiah VanZandt, Jr. in 1789, he owned a mine and mill along the S side of the Nolichucky at Cove Creek with a James PEARCE. Where might I locate this today? I'm reading up on land grants/bounty lands from the Revolution, he seems to have purchased or obtained NC land grant #2402, 356 acres and #2435, 585 acres here. (He did serve himself, out of Botetourt Co., WV.). The former was purchased of a John PRIOR. John LESCOLLET and Samuel HUTCHINSON had land nearby. Since this is now TN, NC told me to post here. Since this was during the time of the State of Franklin, I've read it's possible they were smelting and making firearms for the new state on this property. Indeed, he was married to a Margaret THOMPSON, daughter of Thomas THOMPSON, a signor of the petition for statehood. He was also the grandfather of John VanZandt, the "noble-minded Kentuckian" abolitionist that Harriet Beecher Stowe characterized as John Van Tromp in "Uncle Tom's Cabin."

My great-grandfather's name was Monroe Dugger (b. 20 Jan 1885 in Tennessee and died 21 May 1951). His mother's name was Charlotte Asher (b. abt. 1843). Her first and only husband (as far as I can tell) was Benjamin S. Dugger. He went off to the civil war and never returned. Charlotte had him declared dead (Benjamin in found in
Virginia with another family - but that is another story).
From what I've been told (Not sure how accurate this all is), Charlotte lived with whoever would take her in. She also had many children with various other men (Monroe being one of them). I was hoping that someone could shed some light as to who Monroe's father really is. All of Charlotte's children went by Dugger's in the census, so it is really difficult to tell. Thank you,
