Paty-McCellan-Dungan Archives Room
This historical room is for those trying to get in touch with their roots. The area features census records, city directories and county records on microfilm, as well as tips for those studying their family background. It houses a collection
of county, state and local area history and genealogy books. A photocopy machine is located near the front door. Cost is $.15 per copy.
Volunteers are available on the first Thursday night of each month, from 6:30 - 8:00 P.M, to help beginners with their genealogy research.

Hours: Eastern Time Zone Monday-Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.; several of the county offices are open from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturdays. Call for information.
The Carter County Court Records contains administrative records of the county government. All records should be contained within the courthouse but due to neglect, lack of security and bad management, several of the county records have been "lost" o ver the years. The court house contains: court dockets, minutes and registers; legal documents, correspondence and exhibits pertaining to cases in circuit, chancery and county courts.
At present, there is no known list of the contents of the Carter County Courthouse. This information will be added when a listing for a particular office is compiled
The County Court Clerk's Office contains the records of Administrators & Executors, Births & Deaths(Limited Years), County and Quarterly Court, Guardians, Marriages, Taxes, Wills and several volumes of Miscellaneous re cords.

The Association meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m., in the Conference Room of the Johnson City Public Library, 100 W. Millard Street, Johnson City, TN.
In May and October the Association publishes the Bulletin, which focuses on copies and abstracts of original source materials relating to Tennessee and adjacent areas.
Membership: Annually $15/yr. payable to WAGS not
later than January 1 of each calendar year.
Each member is entitled to one query each issue. No query space for
non-members.
