BROGAN, Robert C. was
received into the Penitentiary on the Seventh of March one thousand
eight hundred & thirty three. He is six feet one inch in
height & weighs one hundred & Sixty pounds, dark hair,
blue eyes, dark complexion, twenty seven years of age. Born
in Kentucky & brought up in Anderson County, Tenn. where
his father now resides on Clinch river. His wife & three
children likewise live in the same County in the Big Valley
about ten miles from Clinton. Her maiden name was WHITTON, her
mother is now married to a man named Wm BRUMMIT and resides
in Campbell County, Tenn. He has a brother living in Anderson
& one in Claiborne County, Tennessee. The small fingers
of the right hand is crooked. A scar running across from the
little toe of the right foot towards the instep & a small
one where the hand joins the wrist, he has served an Apprenticeship
to the Hatting business in Blount County, Alabama. Was found
guilty of Forgery at the Circuit Court of Knox County and sentenced
to Three years Confinement in the Jail and Penitentiary House
of the State of Tennessee. Robt. C. BROGAN was discharged 16
day of May 1836 having been detained 70 days for bad conduct.
Returned Jany 18th 1837 for Horse Stealing. Sentence 6 years
from Maury County. July 2d 1837. Robt C. BROGAN died of Apoplexy.
