William Womble was b. 1800 in NC -his parents & siblings are not
known. He settled in McMinn Co. before 1822. His wife was Elizabeth unk

sold their farm in Polk Co in the mid 1930's and moved to Cleveland on
Church St. Both Onie & Ben died there and are buried down the
street in the Calvary Hill Cemetery(?) in the family plot. Ben &
Onie had three sons that served in WWII - Clarence served aboard the
destroyer U.S.S. McKee - Carl & Claude served in the army. Claude
was killed and his remains were brought home one year after his death.
Clarence Womble, my father, moved to
Dallas, TX in 1948 for a job, hoping someday to return to his beloved
TN.
