SMITH

Date: February 1998

Email: dusty smith
Other queries by Dusty Smith

Comments:
The family I am researching is that of William Henry Smith. What I know is listed below-dates are from a family bible - so accuracy is not confirmed. Places are from my uncle's memory of hearing his father talk about his home life as a young boy. The way my uncle writes the estimated birth locations of the children listed below is Most of Dad's family info might be in the what is now Scott Co Va area b ut was Anderson/Campbell Tn. then, and also in the Bristol,Kingsport, Blount(Sullivan Co.Tn) area. William Henry Smith m.Sarah(nickname Sallie) Elizabeth Grills-abt. 1880- their birth dates and places are unknown. Children: Charles David Smith b. 1884-188 6 - born maybe in Sullivan County, Kingsport area; Lee Smith (or John Lee)- details unknown (believed to be older than Charles); Mitchell B. Smith- b, est July 14, 1889\; Viola Smith-b. June 1892 (died Aug 1976-buried Ander on Cemetery, Anderson Co. Knoxv ille, Tn.) ;Lillie Smith-b. May 1895 (died April 1983 in Knoxville, buried Lynhurst Cemetery in Knoxville); Mary Smith - no data known. William Henry is believed to have died between 1894 +1895 . After leaving the funeral, Sarah Elizabeth gave away Charle s David to a family headed by Felt Payne and Mitchell to a family headed by Dan Fleenor, "neighbors" of the Smith family. Both of these ames are estimated spellings as remembered by my Uncle. Charles - my grandfather- ran away from the Payne's , but Mitchell was raised by the Fleenor's. I included these names (Fleenor and Payne -in the event they help locating the Smith's on a census.) L e Smith was old enough to be on his own. Sarah Elizabeth kept the female children and remarried to a James B. White. Together they ran a boarding house in a place called "COAL CREEK,TN. - between Lake City and Lafollette, Tn.) James B. White and Sarah E izabeth had one child born approx. 1902 - female Leona White.Pls email resp.
