JOHNSON, Elkany (1889)

Death of an Old Citizen

Maryville, June 25 – Elkaney JOHNSON, one of our best and most respected citizens, died at his home, three miles west of Maryville, yesterday at 1 o’clock.

Mr. JOHNSON was a very industrious and honorable man, and by his labor and economy had accumulated of this world’s goods until he was in very comfortable circumstances. He was an active, earnest member of the Baptist church, a conscientious Christian and a good citizen. He was considerably on the decline of life, and has been sick for some time past.
