BURGER, Belle (d. 1881)

Mrs. Belle BURGER, wife of Mr. Joseph BURGER, died at the residence of her father, Mr. John CURRIER, in this place, at 11 o’clock p.m., on Friday, 26th ult., after an illness of several months, being afflicted with that dread disease, consumption.  The deceased was in her twenty-fifth year.

A friend says of her: “She was a member of the New Providence Presbyterian Church and was devoted to the cause of religion and the progress of Christianity.  In her last hours she implored her friends and loved ones to place their trust in God.  Before her death she requested prayer for her, that she might not be too impatient to depart, and her last words were: ‘Tis sweet to be with Jesus.’  With these words lingering on her lips, she left this mortal tenement and was ushered into the morning of eternity.”
