
JAMES MCCALLUM
WAS born in Robeson County, North Carolina, October 3, 1806, moving to Giles County at an early age. Mr. McCallum was Clerk and Master
in Chancery at Pulaski; a long and active practicing attorney in the several courts of the State, and a Member of the Tennessee
State Legislature, 1861-63. He was a Representative from Tennessee in the Confederate Congress, 1864-65. Author of Brief Sketch of the Settlement and
Early History of Giles County Tennessee (1876), the definitive historical work on Giles County. He was a
Presbyterian, a Freemason, and served as Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons of Tennessee
He died in Pulaski, Giles County, Tennessee, September 16, 1889. He is interred at Maplewood Cemetery, Pulaski, Tennessee.
