August Term 1843

 

State of Tennessee, Benton County, August Term 1843

At a County Court began and held for the County of Benton at the Court house in the Town of Camden on the first Monday in August.  It being the seventh day of said Month in the year of our Lord one thousand eighteen hundred & forty three and the 68th year of American Independence, there being present and presiding on the bench worshipfuls Esquires A. Perkins, D.P. Hudson, Nathan Williams.

The Clerk of this County presented a settlement Made with R.C. and John M. Petty, Executors of the Estate of Thos. Petty deceased which said settlement was examined by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with Mary Bane Administratrix of the Estate of Britin Bane deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with John D. Rushing guardian of Synthia A. Murray, a Minor which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with R. C. Petty guardian of Sarah Petty, a Minor which said Settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with Alexander McRae guardian of the Minor heirs of Mathew Melton deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with J.A. Browning guardian for J.A. Bomer Minor which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

August Term 1843

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Lemuel Thompson be appointed overseer of the Perryville road to work from Camden to the Kirkman's ferry road in room of William Cantrell and the following hands work under said Thompson on said road (viz.) Charles Thompson, Benjamin Thompson, Benson Turner, William Watkins and Jackson Utley and all other hands in the bounds work under said Thompson on said road which is established in the 2nd Class.

Issued Aug 7th.

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Davis Barnes be appointed overseer of the road in room of William Swindle and that all the hands that formally worked under said Swindle shall now work under the said Davis Barnes or that is in the bounds which road in established in the 2nd Class.

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Middleton Thomason be appointed overseer of the Ross's ferry road leading from Huntingdon said ferry by the way of Rolands Mill to commence where the (unreadable word) road crosses said road and work to Chalk level and that the following hands work under said Thomason on said road (viz.) Holloday Kee, Mark Hatley, Hinton H. Mitchell, John Pinkston, Solomon Craven, John Craven and Amos Rowland and other hands in the bounds shall work under said Thomason on said road which is Established in the 2nd Class.

On Motion of James Stepto the Court proceeded to appoint Commissioners to lay off and set apart a years provision for the widow and family of Hillary Capps, deceased (Viz.) Thos. Jones, Joseph Cowell and Irvin B. Carnes and it is ordered by the Court that the above Named persons be appointed.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with Presley Thorington guardian for Eliza Ann Harrison, a Minor which said settlement was examined by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

August Term 1843

On Motion it is ordered by the Court that John M. Browning be appointed overseer of the Paris road in room of William Guthrie to work from Willis Rushing to the four Mile post and all the hands that formally worked under the said Guthrie or in the bounds shall now work under the said Browning on said road which is established in 1st Class.

Court then Adjourned until Court in Course.

At a County Court began and held for the County of Benton at the Court house in the Town of Camden on the first Monday in Sept. it being the 4th day of said Month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred & forty three and 68th year of American Independence there being present and presiding on the bench the worshipfuls, Esquires E. Perkins, D.P. Hudson and Nathan Williams.

Personally appeared in open Court David Brewer who presented the proceedings of a Jury of Review appointed at a former term of this Court to view and Mark a part of a road leading from Wynns ferry to Camden who certifies that the desired alterations have been Made which said alterations have been established a public highway of this County.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with Mary Barnett guardian of the Minor heirs of John Barnett deceased (viz.) Eliza and Sam Martin Barnett which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with M.C. Barnett guardian of James Harrison a Minor which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
