and moved to Mississippi, John married Martina DENNISON and
moved to Mississippi. Martha NEWTON MCGEE died before 1839.
William MCGEE remarried to Mary Justice HAGGARD, daughter of
Samuel HAGGARD and Mahala MEADOWS. Children of William and
Mary J. HAGGARD MCGEE: Mahala(b. 1840) married Piercy BOMAR
(or variant), Frances (b. 1842) married Elijah BOMAR, Samuel
H. (b. 1844), William H.(b.1846), and Mary J. (b. 1848)
MCGEE. Mary J. McGee, who never married, is said to have
died in the Poor House. William MCGEE was a carpenter and
lived at the first toll gate on the Fayetteville Pike. Any

RUSSELL, DEVENPORT, MAJORSI am looking for a John H. Russell who witnessed a deed
from John Russell to James T. Russell in the early 1850's in
Franklin Co., Tn. There seems to have been 2 John Russell's
who arrived in Franklin Co.,Tn in th 1819 or 1820. The John
I an needing information about lived on the Elk River, I am
also a ggggranddaughter of John W. Devenport and of Benjamin
Pollard Majors SR. My ancestors all moved to Graves County,

settled in and around Hale County Alabama. I am interested

SWINEY family: William Allen, Emily, J.W., Arthur, and
Thomas Monroe Swiney, and the Solomon Hays family: Nancy L.,

survived giving the photographer as "G.W. JONES of
Shelbyville, Tennessee." Thomas Monroe, son of William Allen
Swiney and Frances Minerva Hays, was born in Lynnville, TN
in 1872. Solomon Hays was born in NC, his wife Nancy in IN.
Son Thomas (brother of Minerva Hays) married William's
sister Emily. J.W. and Arthur are identified in family notes
as "uncles," but no one knows if they are brothers of
William and Emily or are from an earlier generation. It
would take an expert to date the photograph from Arthur's
clothing. Does anyone know when G.W. JONES studio operated
in Shelbyville? One other name of note, William B. Swiney,
thought to be William and Emily's father. Any information
would be greatly appreciated.
HUFFMAN, MATLOCKI am looking for information on my grandparents and who
thier parents were. I am wanting to do a family tree and
can't find any information. My grandfathers name was John
Allen Huffman b 1-19-1910, d.12-26-85, buried in a small
cemetary out in Normandy. My grandmother is Ella Inez
Huffman maiden name is Matlock, and she died about 4 years
ago. She also was buried in Normandy. My grandfather had one
sister Olivia who married Harvey Kirby of Nasville area. My
grandmother has several sisters. Of the ones I remember
there names are: Haddie Mae, Pearl, Danny, Roselle and I
can't remember the others. Most of the sisters lived in the
Normandy area. I think Aunt Danny may have lived in Florida.

Nicholas Nichols COX, representative, was born in Bedford
county, Tenn., Jan. 6, 1837; son of Caleb and Nancy (ALLEN)
COX. He removed with his mother and brother to Seguin,
Texas, when a small bey and attended the public schools in
that place. In 1858 he was graduated from the law school at
Lebanon, Tenn., and the same year was licensed to practise.
He Was a colonel in the Confederate army and after the war
located in Franklin, Tenn., where he engaged in farming and
the practice of his profession. He was a presidential
elector on the Breckinridge ticket in 1860 and on the
Greeley ticket in 1872, and was a Democratic representative
from the seventh district of Tennessee in the 52d, 53d,
64th, 55th and 56th congresses, 1891-1901. Sister Mary
Minerva COX married Joseph SUTTON, resided Perry County
1850, Hickman Co 1860.

KIZER, DAVISMy 3rd-great-grandparents Valentine Kizer and Frances
Davis were married in Bedford County, Tennessee between 1825
and 1832. I have a lot of information on the Kizer family,
but have not been able to find the parents of Frances Davis.
She was born about 1806 in Virginia. Her middle name may
have been McCord. She and her husband moved to Missouri in
the early 1830s and died in Osage County, Missouri in the
early 1850s. Their children were Nancy, Susan, William
McCord, and John Davis. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone
familiar with this family.
