census for Hopkins Co. KY. Joseph Palmore was from
Buckingham Co. VA.. I don't know if Mary (Poley) Palmore was
married to the Bowles or the Haithcoat first.

Newton CLARK (born in Bledsoe County on August 24, 1840) and
Mary "Mollie" Jane CROSSLIN from the Smyma area). Gilliam
and Mollie were married in Murfreesboro, Rutherford County
on December 18, 1869. Gilliam joined the Confederate Army
and was captured after the battle of Missionary Ridge and
sent to the prison at Rock Island, IL. Gilliam was the son
of William CLARK (born in NC on October 28, 1804) and Emily
KELTON (born in Murfreesboro on February 3, 1808). William
was the son of Anthony CLARK (June 21, 1739) and Susanna ?
(1772). Supposedly Gilliam and Mollie had 6 children. Among
the children was my grandmother,Lee Ola Oter CLARK, born on
March 2, 1886 in Texas. Who were the other children? Where
was the family in Texas? By 1900, the family was in the

MARTIN-CRUDUP-TEMPLESeeking information on REBECCA MARTIN, who died in
1851/2, perhaps in Wilson Co., but is said to have lived in
Bedford Co., TN, prior to that time. She was born REBECCA
TEMPLE, and was a daughter of ROBERT TEMPLE, whose widow,
ELIZABETH, had her estate probated in Bedford Co., TN, in
the late 1830s. REBECCA first married JOHN CRUDUP in N.C.,
and they came to Wilson County, arriving on May 12, 1804,
according to an entry in the Wilson County Court Minutes,
[see Fischer & Burns, TENNESSEE TIDBITS, 1778-1914,
Vol, II, p. 3] By CRUDUP, she had four sons: ROBERT,
ELISHA BATTLE, BENNETT, and JOHN, JR. Her first husband,
JOHN CRUDUP, died in 1810 in Wilson Co. And some time
afterwards she married a MR. MARTIN and is said to have then
moved to Bedford Co., where she supposedly had one son,
QUINCY MARTIN. On May 26, 1842, REBECCA MARTIN made her
power of attorney to her son, JOHN CRUDUP, "to receive her
share of the estate of ROBERT TEMPLE." [Wilson Co.,

land transaction from David Bell to Isaac H. Bell. It reads
like a transfer from father to son...for $300.00 I, David
Bell of Bedford Co., sell to Isaac H. Bell all perishable
property that I now claim and possess together with
plantation and other articles and stock, etc. Reg. 26 July
1819. From Deed Book "K" pg 357, 11 Feb. 1819. Searching for
any information concerning the two BELL persons in the above

his granddaughters DAISY BUCHANAN married a JESSE BLAIR.

CARLTON, TAYLORThomas Carleton lived in Bedford Co. and died in early
1860s; he named 12 children in his will. Catharine m. Abram
Taylor about 1838 and moved to west TN along with her sister
Cassa who m. Carson Patterson. Does anyone know if a record
of the Taylor/Carlton marriage exists or any information
about this family? Am especially interested in brother of
Abram, William Taylor.
