SMITH

GrtGrtGrandparents, George and Martha SMITH, lost several familymembers 1890's dau, Nancy Smith TUCKER & grdau,Mary Etta TUCKERSTEPHENSON,(my Grt Grmother), & another SMITH child that drowned in Duck River. Mary Etta died of TB 1895 her mom, Nancy Smith Tucker, died 1891 This may be why they left TN for ARK. According to landdeeds in Bedford Co TN. they 1st went Washington Co, ARK. & soldtheir Bedford Co. land. Deeds notarized in ARK where they were livingin 1897/98. More deeds for land sold in 1899 & 1900 show it wasnotarized in Woodruff County, AR (Deview Township near McCrory area). That is where I have found graves for George & Martha SMITH & someof their children and spouses. have tried to figure why George &Matha SMITH left Bedford Co where they were so properous in the1870/1880. 1880 census showed them having over 200 acres in District10(I think) and assests of $38,000. I thought their land and theTuckers (in the 18th District along the Duck River) were across theriver from each othe

ROGERS, GARNER/GARDNER

Researching the JOSEPH D. ROGERS family. He was born in one of theCarolina's in Abt. 1787. He married a CASSANDRA ? . I do not knowif he moved to Tennessee as a child or adult, but it appears that hischildren were born in Tennessee. According to family records, theylived in both Bedford and Rutherford Counties. He moved in abt. 1837to Texas and I believe most of his adult children moved with him. Ihave not found any record of two of his daughters in Texas, so thinkthey perhaps were already married and remained in Tennessee. Theirnames are: NANCY ROGERS - who married WILLIAM GARNER/GARDNER and hersister, MALINDA ROGERS - who married THOMAS GARNER/GARDNER (possibly brothers ). I do not have the birth dates of NANCY orMALINDA ROGERS, but they would have been born between the years1807-1824 judging by siblings birthdates. Any possible clues wouldbe very much appreciated about MALINDA OR NANCY ROGERS GARNER/GARDNERand also for JOSEPH D. ROGERS and his parents/siblings. Thank you.
