Louella Goodman Mitchell

Louella Goodman Mitchell, age 87, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at her home.

Mrs. Mitchell was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of Oliver Springs. She loved her family and was a special mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, Hence Mitchell Sr.; sons, Hence Mitchell Jr. and Ellis Douglas Mitchell; her parents, Abraham and Verdie Goodman; and a brother, Johnny Goodman.

She is survived by daughters, Barbara Tucker and husband, Archer, Brenda Jones and husband, Steve, and Debbie Green, all of Oliver Springs; sons, Steve Mitchell and wife, Liz, of Harriman, Dennis Mitchell and wife, Robin, of Arlington, Texas, and Gary Mitchell and wife, Debbie, of Clinton; 15 grandchildren, Leslie Kendrick, Liesha Richardson, and Paige Moore, all of Ohio, Melissa Swisher, Shawn Green, Nicholas Green and Steve Jones Jr., of Oliver Springs, Steven Mitchell of Maryville, Chad Mitchell of Harriman, Weston Mitchell and Loren Webber of Clinton, Natachia Mitchell of Scott County, Josh, Rodney and Amanda Mitchell of Texas; by 19 great-grandchildren, Shannon Neace, Brittany and Jermey Kendrick, Erica, Branden, and Allen Richardson, Adam and Casi Moore, all of Ohio, Monica Harvey, Timothy Collins, Ciera Swisher, Austin and Macey Jones of Oliver Springs, Kaden and Michaela Webber of Clinton, Matthew and Andrew Green of Oliver Springs, and Lexi and McKenzie Mitchell of Maryville. She is also survived by a brother, Riley Goodman and wife, Lucille, of Oliver Springs; sisters, Mildred Silvey and husband, AK, and Mary Lee Brooks and husband, Chester, all of Oliver Springs; a daughter-in-law, Coney Mitchell of Ohio; and special friends of Browder Circle, Ruth Land, Mack Green, Searle Swisher, Louis May, Jo Ann Braden, and Rhonda and Jeff Bass.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 27, 2009, between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Charlie Marlow officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009, at 1 p.m. at East Fork Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
