James Grant

300 acres. Revolutionary War soldier from Connecticut where he served under Return J Meigs, and a reputed friend of George Washington; first chairman of the County Court; founder of the town of Grantsboro (1798) at the junction of Powell and Clinch Rivers (now inundated); died January 31, 1824, aged 71.
