Falling Tree Kills Lake City Man

Teddy West, 58, of Lake City was killed Monday about 3 p.m. by a falling tree while he was working in the woods near the Campbell County line cutting timber for pulp wood.A son, Virgil, who was with him at the time, narrowly escaped being struck by the same tree,which was cut down by another workman in the woods.West, a veteran of World War I, was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and a member of Fratersville Baptist Church.Survivors are his wife,Mrs. Emma Bunch West, five sons, Vern of Cincinnati,Ohio, Vaughn of Cleveland,Ohio, Vester,Viredith and Virgil, all of Lake City,five daughters, Mrs. Virgie Pillman and Mrs. Vada Poore, both of Cleveland, Mrs. Vena Mowery of Beech Grove, Virlie andVivian, both of Lake City.Services were to be held Thursday (today) at 2p.m. at the Pine Hill Baptist Church with theRev.O.S. Dugger and the Rev.Ed McKamey officiating.Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery with military honors at the grave.Martin of Lake City is in charge.
