Obituary of Charles Robert Sharp, Sr., 2002:

Charles Robert Sharp Sr., age 80, of Norris, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2002, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

He was born May 2, 1921, in Union County.

He was a United States Army Veteran who served during World War II. He retired from Container Corporation of America in Dalton, IL, as a dye setter. He was a friend to many and loved by all those he came in contact with and showed his love in return.

Preceded in death by: Wife, Helen L. Sharp; parents, James and Thula Oxendine Sharp; sister, Rose Reeb.

Survivors: Daughters, Brenda Barth and husband, Al of Heiskell, Charlene Krachery and husband Rich of Park Forest, IL, Kay Butler and husband Wayne of Maynardville; sons, Boyd Sharp and wife Donna of Powell, Charles R. Sharp Jr. and wife Janice of Peoria, IL; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Mable Stull and husband Don of Belleview, FL, brothers, Walter Sharp of Knoxville, Elmer Sharp and wife Ann of Knoxville, James “Jack” Sharp and wife Carolyn of Powell; brother-in-law, All Reeb of Georgia; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Lois Tyree of Andersonville.

Many thanks to all the staff and special friends at Mariner Health Care Center.

The family received friends 6-8:30 pm Friday, March 8, 2002, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton with the funeral service following in the chapel at 8:30 pm with the Rev. Donnie Disney and the Rev. Perry Austin officiating.

Interment was 1 pm Saturday, March 9, 2002, at Red Hill Cemetery with full military honors being conducted at graveside by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard.

Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton in charge of all arrangements.
