Obituary of Joe Mac Sams, 1993:
Joe Mac Sams, 50, of Hillvale Road, Andersonville, died Nov. 27 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Knoxville of cancer.
Mr. Sams was born April 27, 1943, in the Beech Grove community near Lake City.
He was of the Baptist faith and was a retired construction worker.
His father, Dan Boone Sams, died in 1980 and his mother, Della Strong Sams, died in 1986.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Young Sams; daughter, Lisa Sams; son, Danny Joe Sams; and a granddaughter, Amber Nicole Sams, all of Andersonville; sister and brother-in-law, Sammie Ruth and Harvey McCoy of Lake City and three nieces and two aunts.
Services were held Monday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Seeber officiating. Burial was in Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
