Obituary – Brown, John Andrew, 1982

Quin-County Advertiser, Oak Ridge, October 1982:

Powell nonagenarian.  John Andrew Brown, 92, of Route 2, Powell, died Saturday, Oct. 9 at Lake City Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Brown was a member of Haven Chapel United Methodist Church in Claxton.  He was also a member of Gadson Lodge No. 33 F&AM, Ester Chapter of the Eastern Star, and served on the Anderson County Community Council on the Aging.

Mr. Brown leaves no immediate family but is survived by several friends who he adopted as family according to Nita Ashley.  His adopted family included, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dale, Route 1, Powell, Mrs. Naomi Walker and family, Knoxville, and Mrs. Hazel Moore and family of Route 2, Powell.

Services for Mr. Brown were held 2:30 Tuesday in the Haven Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. J. E. Hill officiating.

Burial was in Haven Chapel Cemetery.

Martin Funeral Home of Clinton was in charge of arrangements.
