Obituary of Ellis P. “Sonny” Patton Jr., 1995:

Ellis P. “Sonny” Patton Jr., 65, of Lake City, died Tuesday in his home.

The son of Ellis and Emma Gean Scarbrough Patton, he was born June 17, 1929 in Anderson County. He attended Clinch River Baptist Church. He was retired from T. V. A., a member of Plumbers and Steam Fitters U.S. Local 661, and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Patton; parents; and brother, Jackie Patton.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, James “Jim” and JoAnn Patton of Lake City; daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Nance and Nancy and Donnie Carden, all of Lake City and Donna Gail Robin of Baton Rouge, LA; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Marvin Patton Boyer of Andersonville; brother, Benny Patton of Knoxville; grandchildren, Jamie Patton, Jason Patton, Amy Nance, Kristi Nancy, Christopher Carden and Megan Carden all of Lake City; and special friend, Bonnie Long of Lake City.

Funeral service will be 8 pm Wednesday in Cox Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating. Burial will be 11 am Thursday in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday.
